A Chinese court sentenced a Swedish book dealer Gui Minhai to 10 Years in prison for "illegally providing intelligence overseas".

Mr Gui has been in and out of the Chinese prison, since 2015, when he disappeared during a holiday in Thailand.

The ex-Hong Kong -based publishing house was taken into care in the year 2018 on its way to Beijing.

Mr Gui, 56, is well-known that books about The Personal lives of the Chinese Communist party leaders.

He was one of five booksellers who owned a small bookstore in Hong Kong . In 2015, all five of the missing at different times but were later released - Only Mr Gui remains in Chinese custody.

The Ningbo Intermediate People's Court said in a statement on Monday that he was deprived of political rights for five years. He said he would be in the appeal.

The court added that its Chinese state had citizenship, has been set in the year 2018. It is not clear whether Mr Gui has given up his Swedish citizenship, but China does not recognize dual citizenship.

A forced confession?

Mr Gui for the first time in the headlines in 2015, when he disappeared from Thailand and appeared in China.
