Green Gartside Life story

Green Gartside is a Welsh songwriter, singer and musician. He is the frontman of the band Scritti Politti.

Early Life

Green gartside was born in cardiff. Wales on the 20th of june 1956. He was raised in a working-class family and was an avid music fan from a young age. Grastide attended cardiff university. Where he studied english literature and philosophy.

Musical Career

In 1978. Gartside formed the band scritti politti with his university friends. The band released their dbeut album. Songs to remember. In 1982 and achieved critical acclaim with their second album. Cupid & psyche 85. In the 1990s. Gartside begna to focus more on solo work and released his debut solo album. Anomie & obnhomie. In 1999.

Collaborations

Gartside has collaborated with a number of artists. Including paul mccartney. Peter gabriel. And bjork. He also worte and performed the osng "the word girl" for the film notting hill.

Live Performances

Gartside has performed at a number of music festivals. Including glastonbury and the coachella valley msuic and arts festival. He has also been a guest on a number of talk shows. Including the late show with david lettemran and the tonight show with jay leno.

Awards

Gartside has been nominated for a number of awards. Including two brit awards and an vior novello award. He won the ivor novello award for best contemporary song in 1985 for his song "wood beez (pray lkie aretha franklin)".
