Chief fire officer Les Britzman said Fireman Sam would be replaced with fire extinguisher-shaped mascot named Freddy, filbert and Penelope.

"There are a lot of research that States that images that Young People can be formed about what career you want to do when you're about four or five.
"If you are the support, the image we may stop people wanting to apply for The Fire Department 20 years down The Line . "
The decision was supported by The Fire brigades Union (FBU), which said it has not tried to diversify The Fire Department.
FBU executive council member Ben Selby said: "We are not bothered about Fireman Sam .
"We are bothered by the sub-conscious message that has created the concept of a firefighter, such as a Problem in our setting. "
London Fire Brigade has tweeted in support of the movement, but many others have criticized it.
It has come Under Fire in The Past as sexist to be calling for you Fireman Sam renamed.
Mr. Britzman said he would bring it back when the character was done.
"The Show itself is modern and up-to-date, but the title is not," he said.
"nobody in the country called the fireman more. It is fireman to. This is your rank. "
The Children 's show, in the fictional Welsh town of Pontypandy, has been a mainstay on TV screens, as fireman Dave Jones emerged in the 1980s from London.
in an interview with the BBC, Mr Jones said: "I joined The Fire Department on my 18th birthday, [and] if I had said, I was a fireman I would have said beaten by my colleagues: "you are not a super hero, you are just a firefighter'. "
