About Encarnacion (Encarnación)
Encarnación is a city on the north bank of the Paraná River, in southern Paraguay. It's known for the nearby colonial-era Jesuit missions of La Santísima Trinidad de Paraná and Jesús de Tavarangue, with their archaeological ruins. Grandstands line the Sambódromo, a long parade ground that hosts the city's Carnival festivities. The Japanese Garden in the Plaza de Armas has a pond and wooden bridges.
