Emilio Ballagas Life story
Emilio Ballagas y Cubeñas (b. 7 November 1908; d. 11 September 1954), Cuban poet and essayist. Born in Camagüey, Cuba, Ballagas's writing career began with a 1926 essay about Cuban patriot José Martí, which won him a scholarship sponsored by the Revista Martiniana to study at the University of Havana.
