He was the naughty cartoon steam locomotive, sang in his local choir, went on his own, and called up nostalgic memories of the innocent childhood.

Now 60 years since the Ivor the engine first steamed TV, their owners want to shed him out of retirement and made him a movie star.

stable-mates, and fat to be loved very Well . Now the "pioneer" Ivor you could get.

"I would like a live-action version of Ivor," said his co-Creator son.

Inspired by the poems of Dylan Thomas ' and was made by hand in a dilapidated barn, by the late cartoon big-Oliver post-gate, the landmark of 60's on Saturday.

The lovable locomotive of the Merioneth and Llantisilly Rail Traction Company Limited, lived in the upper-left corner of Wales surrounded by his eccentric Friends .

Legendary Comic book Creator, Oliver Postgate , was wanted in The Song , only 13 episodes of Bagpuss

The production, on an old farm outside Canterbury, a Cost of € 10 per minute.

Ivor The engine was painted with cardboard cut-outs with water-colors

Ivor was inspired by the post-gate ' s friendship with a Welsh railway fireman, who described lovingly how steam engines came to life, if you spent time with them.

post Tor chose, North Wales , of course, famous for its little steam railway - the setting of the "inspirational" site, where stories of moving cardboard cut-outs painted with water colors and the use of Blu-Tack.

Although Bagpuss, voted Britain's most popular children's TV show in a BBC poll and the fat cells, the little-known film productions, it Ivor was started, the cartoon-classic conveyor Belt .

72 episodes of Ivor The engine, the color was in 1975

"it is that The Beautiful stories, it is so pleasant for the children at the time, as it is today," said the little film " the current owner, Daniel Postgate , son of Oliver, died in the year 2008.

"Dad' s first program was for ITV, and was inspired by the love of Under Milk Wood-Dylan Thomas , and The Magic of Wales .

"He wanted to Animate to, without too many Characters that were able to go, because it was difficult to Animate , so he came on a steam engine, the want to sing in a Welsh choir and was the Starting Point which led to everything.

"He was surrounded then, by Ivor, with a charmingly eccentric people. It doesn't matter how technically dazzling Animation , if the story is good, then it is soon forgotten. "

Ivor, who lived in Llaniog with his driver, Jones The steam, was a stop-motion Animation , which is a "carefully, often tedious frame-by-frame" technique.

post-gate and Firmin created a map of where Ivor lived, and viaducts, bridges, tunnels, cities, a mine, a gas plant and a beach.

Ivor is the was short name for the Motor, white, Merioneth and Llantisilly Rail Traction Company Limited

Black-and-episodes were first for ITV, before Ivor appeared in color in 1975 for the BBC.

Ivor has been immortalized in The Song by The Who , and Bad Manners , while the atmospheric background is used music on BBC 6 Music by the evening's Moderator: Gideon Coe .

"Every night, I listen to it on my map, it brings me back to a more innocent time, and Ivor beautiful Little World ," said Coe.

"It had so arouses wonderful Characters , magic, and sometimes eccentric stories and beautiful music in the background, a warm feeling of nostalgia It was subtle genius.

"it began in the 1950s, and a cartoon was a precursor, it is still as good as anything made since. It was ahead of its time. "

And nothing to do, Daniel would be more chuffed than after the fat cells and get Ivor back to the track and back on the TV.

"I've written a couple of film ideas that could work as a live-action family film," said Daniel .

Ivor The engine was revived by BBC 2 Wales for a series of promotional ads-15 years

"It has been, plays and musicals, and it would be good to bring back, Ivor in a different way, not as an Animation already done.

"And to offer him something, with The Beautiful Welsh countryside and the wealth of acting talent in Wales .

"There is every chance it Will happen - I'm on the case. "
