The picture of The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge step on a budget flight contrasts a bit with The Duke and Duchess of Sussex-trip this summer.

Prince William and Kate ' s was compared from Norwich to Aberdeen are affected negatively by the criticism of Prince Harry and Meghan s

But who decides how the Royal Family travels? And how much you have to spend is always around?

Official v unofficial

While the Cost of official Royal Travel online, will be published in annual reports, the amount of money that The Royals don't spend on an unofficial trip.

spending on official Travel paid for by the tax payers, was £2. 7m last year. Travel costs More Than £15,000, Prince Charles Spent The Most .

Tradition dictates that what The Royals spend their own time to them, and so we only know what is reported, often by accident.

Kensington Palace would not comment on the Cost of the Cambridges' personal journey, after they were caught boarding of your budget flight This Week . Reports said tickets Cost as little as £73.

in the Meantime, Sir Elton John said he lent his private jet to Prince Harry and Meghan during a recent Visit to his French estate.

Phil Dampier , who has several books written about The Royals , said he expects the gifts of Flights - May have to be tens of thousands of pounds - May be disclosed to in the future.

"I mean, what needs to happen in the future, that all of the Flights , given to them by the likes of Elton John , or any benefactor you must explain," he said.

helicopters are preferred

When traveling in an official capacity, The Royals chartered helicopter is far More Than private jets.

figures, 207 trips were made by helicopter, in the past year, compared with 56 Flights on specially chartered Planes .

the introduction of a royal helicopter, and operated by a civilian crew saved thousands of pounds

The vast majority of helicopter trips were short hops, and Cost less than £15,000, the shown accounts.

But The Royals almost exclusively with chartered aircraft when traveling abroad. taken

the more expensive trips, The Prince of Wales and the Duchess of Cornwall was on the Islands of The Caribbean and Cuba aboard the RAF's Voyager, which costs £416,576.

the Cost of

fallen in Spite of the seemingly high Cost of royal Travel still costs a lot less than even a few decades ago.

According to The National Audit Office (NAO), the official royal Travel costs decreased by 76% in real terms between 1991-2 and 2011-12.

said The NAO, was that, because of the household connected with an RAF helicopter to a civilian service, and fewer Flights on more expensive aircraft.

the Official Royal Travel Grant paid by the Sovereign, financed by the taxpayer.

This year, the Grant paid by The Queen of budget, personnel, and maintenance of locks - it is expected that £82. 4m in total.

Last year, The Money Spent on the official royal Travel (£2. 7m) was about the same as the previous two years. In 1997-98, the corresponding figure was £17. 3m.

It's not all to Charter about money

The decision to send a special plane or flying on a commercial flight is often the protection of a senior royal staff, in conjunction with the Government , according to a former head of The Royal .

Dai Davies , The Palace police, who said in the 1990s, the BBC: "convenience in respect to the routes, number of visits, the timing, and in some parts of The World , the need for security [apply]".

But the proposal, made by celebrities who came to the defense of Prince Harry and Meghan, the couple was not safe to fly on a normal airliner is untrue, Mr Davies added.

"It is absolute nonsense in terms of security," he said.

'More Travelodge than a Palace'

For trips closer to home, The Royal train is of high-ranking members of the Royal Family , in spite of the current stock dates back to the 1970s, and it costs more per mile than a plane.

The Train has recently been used by The Queen in March 2019, when the monarch slept on it the night before an early Visit to Somerset. It combines The Train and the helicopter for this trip, which Cost £21,230.

The Interior of The Royal train has been compared to a Travelodge

But The Train costs a lot more per mile than Charter Flights .

A September 2018 journey by The Prince of Wales from Aberdeen to Euston Cost £22,086, of £40 a mile, but a similar trip by The Queen on a chartered flight in October 2018 and Cost £17,689, or £32 per mile.

officials have argued that the use of the railway reduced stays, the need for expensive and disruptive hotel.

The railway has begun to show its age. Sir Alan Reid, the former keeper of The Palace purse, said MPs in 2013 The Interior of The Train "is very G Plan, which is either '60s or '70s".

"It's not going to be luxurious, by any stretch of the imagination, but it provides older a very safe and effective Way - particularly as The Queen - with her to the country, in order to do engagements first thing the next morning. "

A reporter for The Daily Telegraph once said: the setup is.

Mr Davies added: "In truth it is an outdated system that costs a huge amount in terms of safety and protection... I think there is A Question mark, whether it is justified. "

Carbon-controversy

Prince Harry and Meghan are the last Flights to nice generated, the Sir Elton John said he paid the charge.

The couple had previously said their followers on the Social Media , that "every election. every action makes a difference" to Climate Change .

The Royal historian Caroline Aston told the BBC that the younger royals are practicing what they preach.

"If you go, you have your own 'woke up' brand green and ethical behaviour, then you need to dot the " i " and cross the 't ' s' a little," She Said .

Sir Elton John said he would pay to offset the carbon dioxide caused by Prince Harry and Meghan's journey in his home country-France

However, the claims of hypocrisy, when It Comes , as senior royals Travel are Nothing New .

Ms Aston said the story was drawn to "the edge were replete with examples of royalty, from the glittering lifestyle" of private jets, only to find "The Friend of the extended hand, only do it for their own reasons".

"Now that we have the funding of the Royal Family . You have to be seen to be, deserve our respect. We have to do because of the accident of birth, it must be earned. "

Prince Charles faced claims of hypocrisy, in 1991, after a speech about the "monstrous" car, only to have his favorite Bentley driven 800 km, and then, Czechoslovakia, prior to a Visit .

Prince Charles' favorite-Aston-Martin-driving with eco-friendly fuel

In 2015, he was accused of "double standards" by a 80-mile trip with the helicopter to save only a few days after urging the people to energy by switching off your lighting.

Prince Charles, takes The Lion 's share of royal Travel , as the heir to The Throne , now lists on its budget, including the use of waste from the production of wine and cheese to fuel his precious Aston Martin .

Despite the measures, The Royals showed the latest accounts, that The Family of the carbon footprint of official Travel almost doubled in the last year to 3,344 tonnes of CO2.

It is unclear which members of the Royal Family to engage in so-called carbon offsetting. The Federal Foreign office, organized The Royals ' official Travel abroad, Spent £43,635 to offset the carbon created by international Flights in 2017-18.

A Buckingham Palace spokeswoman told the BBC: "Travel arrangements for the members of the Royal Family are Cost , taking into account safety, efficiency, effective use of time and disturbance of the other.

"Official overseas Travel undertaken by members of the Royal Family , this is at The Request of the Government . "
