Thailand judge shoots self in court, after the criticism of the system

A Thai judge shot himself in a courtroom after delivering a rare speech, rails against the country's justice system.

But The Judge survived and was hospitalized, where he is recovering from his injuries.

A statement believed to have been written by The Judge prior to his decision suggests that his suicide might be trying, in terms of alleged interference in the case.

What happens in court?

The Judge worked in the Yala court of the insurgency-hit South of Thailand.

After the absolution, The Five men of the murder and firearms offences, he addressed the court with a passionate speech, he live on Facebook.

"you need a clear and Credible evidence for someone to punish. So, if you are not sure, don't punish," he said.

"I'm not saying that The Five defendants did not commit, for the crimes you have done, perhaps," he added.

"But the judiciary must be transparent and Credible . the punishment of the wrong people makes them to make scapegoats. "

The Facebook feed cut but then people said in court, The Judge read a legal oath in front of the former Thai king's portrait in front of a gun and shoot yourself.

He was taken to the hospital, where he is reportedly in a stable condition.

Why did he do it?

It is not quite clear why The Judge Pianchana tried to take his own life.

Suriyan Hongvilai, the speaker of the offices of the judiciary, told the AFP news Agency that he shot himself because of "personal stress".

But local media reported that The Judge had with reference to the case he had just ruled.

A statement believed to have been written by the judges and posted on Facebook before he shot himself, stated that he was put under pressure, The Men are guilty, despite the lack of evidence.

"at this moment, other colleagues and judges in the courts of first instance throughout the country are treated in the same way, as I was," he wrote.

"[When] I can't, my oath to keep, I would rather die than live without honor. "

Criticism of the justice of judges is extremely rare in Thailand.

rights groups have claimed that the security forces trump criminal charges against a Muslim suspect in the Malay-Muslim majority in the region.
