Anti-Natal is: the people who want you to have to stop, baby

Feb 16,2020 5:16 am

you believe the man should have no children. Who are the anti-Natal ists are and how far you are willing to push your ideas?

"Wouldn't it be just better to blow a hole in the side of the Earth , and we have just done with everything?"

Thomas, 29, lives in The East of England, and although his idea of blowing up The World as something of a thought experiment, he is sure - people should not have children and our species to extinction.

It is a philosophy, the so-called anti-natalism is. While the idea originated, it was recently given a huge boost from Social Media .

On Facebook and Reddit, there are dozens of anti-natalist groups, some with thousands of members. On Reddit, has almost 35,000 members, while dozens of Facebook groups with an anti-natalist theme has More Than 6,000.

they are scattered all over The World and have a variety of reasons for their beliefs. Among them are concerns over the genetic inheritance, do not want to suffer children, the concept of consent, and concerns about overpopulation and The Environment . are

But they are United in their desire to stop human reproduction. And although it is a fringe movement, some of their views, particularly about The State of the Earth , are always creeping into the mainstream discussion.

Although not an anti-natalist, The Duke of Sussex said recently, he and his wife were planning, because of environmental concerns.

Philosophical chat Thomas is not anti-heard-natalism, before anyone used the term to describe his views in a YouTube comments thread a couple of years ago. Since then, he is Now an Active Member of an anti-natalist Facebook group. It is the intellectual stimulation and a place delivers to him, to test his debating skills.

"I think it is awesome, you will discuss real problems," he says. "You have an idea - let's say, people do die. What if people then develop again? Then you have not really solved the problem.

"There is a lot of discussion, some of it is pretty delicate. "

But his passion for anti-natalism is not just theoretical. Thomas believes that All Human Life is futile and has tried, although it was not a vasectomy in the UK National Health Service (NHS). To refuse NHS doctors, the performance of sterilization operations, if you do not believe the procedure is in the.

non-violence and consent despite some of the nihilist rhetoric in anti-natalist groups, there is no indication that they are a violent threat. If you are talking about the extinction it often feels as if it is a discussion exercise. No one in their online communities, threatened with murder or violence.

Thomas ' idea of blowing a hole in the side of the Earth - and he puts himself in front of a big Red Button that would at the end of the human Life and says he would be "the press, that in an instant" - But it is highly controversial because a key anti-natalist principle: consent.

easy, it's the idea of The Creation or destruction of Life requires the consent of the person to be born or to die.

Kirk lives in San Antonio , Texas. He says he remembers a conversation with his mother when he was just four years old. She told him that having children was a choice.

"This makes no sense to me, voluntarily, someone who is suffering, no needs or desires before your conception in this world and to die," he says.

Kirk says that even at this young age, he became a natalist, with an anti -. He opposes The Creation of human Life , because no one of us specifically asked if we wanted to be here.

"If any person who has agreed to play The Game of Life I would personally not objecting to that," he says. "It stands and falls with the consent, or lack thereof. "

The concept also works in the reverse direction. The problem with the big red humanity-eraser-button is that a lot of people enjoy Life - and not everyone would agree with all of you to come to an end. Instead, Kirk and most of the anti-Natal ists want people to stop voluntarily giving birth.

Mental Health issue there is another issue of table often used in anti-natalist groups. Posters that condemn the common experience of their own Mental Health , and, occasionally, those with Mental Health problems for children.

A post, a screenshot of a post from another user read: "I have a borderline personality disorder, in addition to the bipolar and generalized anxiety". The anti-natalist added their own comment: "This Person has two children. I feel bad for the kiddos".

In another group, there's a comment where someone was clearly contemplating suicide.

"I have schizophrenia and depression," explains Thomas. "Depression in My Family also. I think if you have children, there is a high probability that you're going to be depressed and you don't like your Life . "

But he also says that the community is often incorrectly labeled by outsiders.

"people will start labelling us crazy psychos," he says. The Truth , he says, is much more complex.

the rescue of the Earth ? Fueling anti-natalist arguments that, in recent years, an increasing focus on The Environment and the potentially devastating effects of Climate Change .

on the basis of posts in the anti-natalist groups, there is clearly a large overlap between your ideas and ecological activism.

"I think it's selfish to have children at This Time ," adds Nancy, vegan, Plastic -free, animal-rights enthusiasts and yoga teachers from the Philippines. "The reality is that The Children that are born into The World , creating more destruction to The Environment . "

In a Facebook-group called "the very angry anti-Natal's" a petition is shared, which they hope to send to the United Nations . The title of "Overpopulation-the root of the climate Catastrophe - a Worldwide birth stop. "So far it has 27,000 signatures.

The idea of it is to let The Children have the benefit of The Environment . In the UK charity has suggested this for years, even though they are not anti-Natal ists. In fact, they argue extinction in favor of the sustainability of the human race rather than you.

"Our goal is the harmony between the human race and The Planet we are happy to live," says Robin Maynard, The Group 's managing Director. "If we have a much more sustainable population to have less children all over The World , and smaller families, we can achieve. "

But a growing population necessarily lead directly to ecological disaster? According to the BBC, the Global population-a correspondent Stephanie Hegarty is, it is hard to say, because The Future promises so hard to predict.

"According to scientific projections, due to Economic Development and falling birth rate, the population of The World is likely to be high-level to over 11 billion in 80 years," she said. "Whether the Earth can take it or not - we do not know.

"is It to predict very hard to predict how many people The Planet can sustain, because it is all about the consumption. And that means that everything from the air, water, food, fossil fuels, wood, plastics and The List goes on and on," she says. "Clearly, some of us consume much More Than others. A Family with 12 children in a country such as Burundi consumes less, on average, than A Family of three in Texas.

"There are so many factors that are going to change in the next decade and the next century, we can't predict Now . "

insults and criticism among the Intensive philosophical and ethical debates anti-natalist groups, there is a darker and less uplifting undertone. Some routinely insult to the Parents , Calling them "breeders". Other insults are directed at children.

"always, When I see a pregnant woman, disgust is The First feeling. "wrote a user in addition to a picture that said: "I hate baby bump".

But that does not mean that all anti-Natal ists hate children, according to those who spoke with the BBC.

"I would say, personally, I like children, and it's because I like you, I don't want you to suffer," Nancy says. "Maybe you bring in The World would give me pleasure, But the threat is not so big, I'm just not sure it's Worth It . "

But that's not the only criticism. In some of the anti-natalist groups, user-a nod to the idea that babies should not be born in war zones, when there is a high chance of disability, or even to low-income Parents . The rhetoric sounds like selective breeding - or eugenics.

The anti-Natal's we talked to had Mixed Feelings about these ideas.

", What are your motivations to have a child?" Thomas says the question of whether he was born concerned about children in war-torn areas. "In such a country, there is less hope that things Turn Around . "

He is relaxed about born children, in low-income households.

"of Course I'm against children. But I think that you can be happy and in a low-income area. "

"My anti-natalism is across the Board," says Nancy. It is directed against eugenics. "Why are we picking and choosing some of the groups, because they are in a position of disadvantage?"
