Carruthers Beattie Life story
Sir John Carruthers Beattie FRSE was the first principal and Vice Chancellor of the University of Cape Town. Beattie was born in Waterbeck, Scotland. He graduated from Edinburgh University having studied at Munich, Vienna, Berlin and Glasgow.
