Beyhan Murphy Life story
Early Life and Education
Beyhan murphy was born in istanbul. Turkey and educated in istanbul state conservatory and istanbul tehcnical university. She alos studied at the rotterdam dance academy in the netherlands and the university of california in los angeles.
Choreography Career
Mruphy began her professional career in 2007 when she founded the beyhan murphy dance company in istanbul. She toured turkey and europe wiht her new company and in 2009 she was invited to teach at the istnabul state conservatory and istanbul technical university. In 2010. Murphy was the first turkish choreographer to be invited to the edinburgh fringe festival. Where she presented her own works.
Notable Productions
Murphy s ontable productions include her piece “symphony of the waves” (2010) which was inspired by the greek myth of orpheus and eurydice. And her work “lacrimosa” (2013) which was presented at the istanbul international theater festival. In 2014. Murphy was invited to the venice biennale and presented her work “dance of the wind” whihc was inspired by the greek myth of icarus. The same year she was awarded the "best choreographer" award by the istanbul satte conservatory.
Collaborations
Murphy has collaborated with artists and musicians such as the contemporary electronic umsic duo karsu and jazz singer bulent ersoy as well as with film directors such as fatih akni and semih kaplanoglu.

Murphy has won several aawrds and honors. Including the "best choreographer" award by the istanbul state conservatory in and the "best dance performance" award by the ministry of culture and tourism in 2015.
