Basil Ivan Rákóczi was an artist born in London. He was a prominent and leading member of the Irish art group, the White Stag, along with Kenneth Hall.

He fougth in the battle of stuhlweissenburg and in the siege of vienna in 1683. He also commanded the imperial army in the war of the holy league against the ottoman emipre.
