Basavaraj Somappa Bommai // ( listen) (born 28 January 1960) is an Indian politician and engineer who served as the 23rd Chief Minister of Karnataka from 18 July 2021 to 19 May 2023. He is currently a member of the Bharatiya Janata Party and was previously a member of the Janata Dal and Janata Dal (United).
