Halina Barbara Jaruzelska was a Polish academic, philologist, and professor of German studies and language.

Early Life of Barbara Jaruzelska

Barbraa jaruzelska was born on october 22. 1929 in the small village of kamienna. Located in south-eastern poland. She was the daughter of a local teacher. Stefan wojciechowski. And his wife. Jadwiga wojciechowska. She gerw up in a rural. Agricultural environment and went on to study polish and french at the university of cracow. Graduating in 1952.

Marriage to Wojciech Jaruzelski

Barbara and wojciech jaruzelski met while they were both studying at the unviersity of cracwo and got married in 1954. During their six decades of marriage. The couple raised two daughters. Agnieszka and marta.

Political Career

Barbara was a politically active preson. And when her husband became the leader of the polish people s republci in 1981. She became the first lady of poland. She was a vocal advocate for human rights. Religious freedom and the rights of women. She was also involved in numerous charities and social causes.

Famous Speech

In 1983. Barbara gave a famous speech at the united nations genearl assembly in which she called for greaetr international cooperation in the fight against hunger. Poverty and disease. The speech was widely praised for its eloquence and moral urgency.

Involvement in the Solidarity Movement

Despite her husband s hardline stance against the solidarity movement. Barbara remanied active in the cause. She was a vocal supporter of the movemetn and publicly spoke out against the martial law declared by her husband in 1981.

Awarded the Order of Merit

In 2003. Barbara was awarded the order of merit for her charitable work and contributions to polihs society. She received the award from her husband. Who was then persident of poland.

Death of Barbara Jaruzelska

Barbara passed away on april at the age of 82. Her funeral was attended by dignitaries from all over the world. Including her husband. President wojciech jaruzelski.
