About Aoi Ward
Aoi-ku is a vast district stretching from downtown Shizuoka to the peaks of the Southern Alps. Large parts of this rugged terrain lie in Minami Alps National Park, where hikers explore deep V-shaped valleys, beech forests, and flowering alpine meadows. In the urban section of the district, Sunpu Castle Park has gardens, reconstructions of the original 16th-century fort, and a lookout point with Mount Fuji views.
