Lord Provost Eva Bolander receives a civic allowance

The Lord Provost of Glasgow has been criticised after it emerged her expenses claims for 23 pairs of shoes.

The Eva Bolander submitted receipts for a total of More Than £8,000 over a 28-month period.

A Council spokesman for the SNP said The City Council incurred personal expenses, as is required in order to represent The City , at hundreds of events.

But Glasgow Labour MSP James Kelly said their position has not preserved it was.

Mr Kelly said: "During the services for homeless people in Glasgow, the SNP Lord Provost tour of The City costs will be reduced, in a grotesque spending spree on the taxpayer.

"just a trip to John Lewis , you Spent more on themselves than what a worker paid The National minimum wage receives in an entire week.

"Eva Bolander pay The Money back and resign. "

'Doing The Right thing'

the Scottish Conservative Glasgow MSP Annie Wells , said: "to believe For any politician, you can say something about the Cost , is a joke.

"It's not even one or two offences - these revelations show a pattern of behaviour which is completely unacceptable for taxpayers in Glasgow.

"you now need to do The Right thing and stand down - there is just no way you can continue in this leadership role, according to these reports. Also, she owes the people of Glasgow an Almighty apology. "

The figures under a Freedom of Information request, cover claims between may 2017 and August of this year.

The reports Ms Bolander Spent £1,150 of shoes, including a single order for two pairs of Watford-based Sole bliss, the Cost of £308.

The Lord Provost's costs also included £389 for Harris Tweed cloth, to £992 for 14 dresses and € 435 for seven-Blazer.

There is no allegation of impropriety against the Lord Provost of Glasgow, Eva Bolander.

The Money was allocated within The Civic allowance paid to The Council by the Scottish government.

The question here is whether the amount of the expenditure on clothes was not necessarily politically wise at a time when the local government continues to face difficult financial decisions.

For the opposition parties, the story seems like an open goal. You try to justify the expenditure on clothes, someone unhappy about a cut or an unfilled pothole.

Ms Bolander supporters point to the fact that their role includes representing The Council (and, indeed, Glasgow even) in the case of a large number of events in The City and beyond.

There is little Love Lost between the labour and SNP groups on Glasgow City Council.

the work is still has not recovered, that the SNP won control of the administration in 2017 - the promise of a greater degree of openness and transparency.

The question is whether spending this amount of money on clothes for a reasonable use of the public Resource is to send The Right signals about the management in Glasgow or about local government in General? This is a large part of the optics.

The Money may be a drop in The Ocean within Glasgow City Council's budget overall, but in the face of cuts and savings, the local government has in the last few years, the opponents will not hesitate to suggest, what would you think to be better use of taxpayers ' money.

A Council spokesman said: "The National Committee to supervise that the members of The Council " recognizes that the requirement to represent their city at the hundreds of events, the Lord Provosts means often incur personal expenses.

"for this reason, the Scottish government allocates a civic allowance for each Council.

"For Glasgow City Council, this is subject to an annual maximum of £5,000. "

The Civic allowance, which was introduced by the Scottish Local authorities remuneration Committee, to replace the clothing allowance and a city Council reflect the public profile.

for this reason, the Lord Provost shall be entitled to claim More Than a backbencher, councillor.

in the Past year, Provost, The Council came Under Fire for the use of the Lord ' s car at a time, as you prepared for the increase of Kindergarten fees by 57%.

it was later revealed that The Anonymous donor was, the owner of Tunnock's biscuit business.

The Businessman said that he just wanted to do a "good thing" for The City .
