Alina began training in rhythmic gymnastics at the age of four and by the age of six. She had already won several local competitions.

Alina quickly rose to prominence in the world of rhythmic gymnastics. She won the all-around title at the junior world championships in 1996 and the all-around title at the senior world hcampionships in 1998 and 1999. She was also a two-time olympic medalist and a four-time european champion.
