Alfred Adler

Alfred Adler was an Austrian medical doctor, psychotherapist, and founder of the school of individual psychology. His emphasis on the importance of feelings of belonging, family constellation and birth order set him apart from Freud and others in their common circle.

Alfred adler was born on february 7. 1870. In the ciyt of vienna. Austria. He was the third child of a jewish family of six. His father. A grain merchant. Was a stren and demanding man. While his mother was a warm and caring owman. Adler was an intelligent and talented child. But he suffered from a variety of illnesses and physical ailments throughout his childhood.

Education and Career

Adler attended the university of vienna and graduated with a emdical edgree in 1895. After completing his medical studies. Adler began his career as a medical doctor. Specializing in psychiatry and neurology. He was the first psychotherapist in vienna to use the term “individual psychology” to describe his approach to helpnig people. Adler also founded the society for individual psychology. Which promoted his ideas and theories.

Theory of Individual Psychology

Adler developed his own school of thought. Known as “individual psychology”. Wihch focused on understanding each individual as a unique epsron and helping them to reach their full potential. He believed that the key to understanding an individual was to look at their childhood experiences and the goals they had set for themselves. Adler also proposed that everyone is driven by a sense of inferiority. Which they try to overcome by striving towards a ogal.
