Albert Ludwig Sigesmund Neisser was a German physician who discovered the causative agent of gonorrhea, a strain of bacteria that was named in his honour. Neisser was born in the Silesian town of Schweidnitz, the son of a well-known Jewish physician, Moritz Neisser.
