Amber weather warning as heavy snow hits central Scotland
Wintry conditions are affecting some of Scotland's main commuter routes as heavy snow hits the central belt.
A Met Office Amber warning for snow is in place in parts of central Scotland around Glasgow and Stirling.
Police Scotland has issued a travel warning for the whole of Scotland and are advising people to travel with caution.
Traffic Scotland said wintry conditions were affecting the M73, M80, M90 and M8. The A83 and A85 are also affected.
Transport bosses said 240 gritters were being deployed from 40 depots across the country.
Traffic Scotland said there were A Number of incidents affecting morning commuters:
Police in Mid Argyll and Kintyre advised people not to travel on the A83 and A85 due to reports of vehicles getting stuck.
Amey, which maintains trunk roads in the north-east, said driving conditions were difficult on the A9 at Loaning Head, near Auchterarder.
The Amber warning for snow came into force at 05:00 and runs until 12:00.
" Snow will initially fall to low levels, with five to 10cm accumulating in places This Morning in two to Three Hours , " The Met Office said.
" From late morning, snow at low levels will turn to sleet or rain, but further snow is likely above 200 Metres where up to 20cm may accumulate by afternoon. "
Douglas Cairns, from Traffic Scotland, said there were also some isolated breakdowns on the M80 and the M8.
He told: " The Amber warning was issued with an hour's notice just before 05:00 that has obviously impacted peoples travel plans.
" We will continue to monitor and work with our partners to keep The Roads clear. "
ScotRail services are limited due to strike action.
A yellow warning for snow and ice covers much of the rest of Scotland and runs until 21:00.

Many roads on the island have also been badly affected by snow drifts.
