Sonny is a 3 time winner of The Real Blues Magazine's "Best Blues Sax Player in Canada" Award and nominated through the years for numerous honours at The Hamilton Music Awards including winning "Special Instrumentalist of the Year" in 2005. In 2012 Sonny Del-Rio was awarded the "Queen Elizabeth Diamond Jubilee Medal".
