São Luís

São Luís

São Luís is a city in northeastern Brazil, on São Luís island in the Atlantic Ocean. In the city's historic center is the neighborhood of Praia Grande, around Portugal Street, marked by colonial buildings with distinctive tiles and cast-iron balconies. The Palace of the Lions, home of the state governor, displays French art and furniture. Nearby is the grand, 17th-century La Ravardière Palace.
