Ryton is a small town in the Metropolitan Borough of Gateshead, Tyne and Wear, England, 5. 8 miles west of Newcastle upon Tyne. Historically in County Durham, it was incorporated into the metropolitan county of Tyne and Wear and the Borough of Gateshead in 1974.
