The 6ft 3ins and is a 20-stone former rugby player and wrestler Jonathan Geary didn't cut the figure of the average male model.

The Man who described himself as the "chunky" a " in school, never thought a model Agency would be desperate to track him down.

But that was the whole point, if he was to sign, as a plus-sized model.

In recent years, models like Ashley Graham fronted an increase in plus-size and curvy fashion brands for women. Male fashion has now appear to be retightened as brands are looking to reflect what they want to see their customers.

Jonathan s 42 waist, 56ins chest-and four-bed-room-XL-sizing was exactly what was asked for was, and he was discovered by a modeling Agency when he went to a photo shoot with his partner Peter.

The result was that he was signed, not his partner.

The 37-year-old from Edinburgh, said: "Last year my fiancé, Peter, in Glasgow in a portfolio for his modelling career. I went along with him and took our dogs With Us .

"So I went with him in the colours Agency. And that was the end. Or so I thought. "

A few months later, Jonathan was approached by Peter to be in contact with The Agency . She had tried to reach him, but he had not seen your messages.

He said: "they told me, the industry is changing, and they were in search of plus-size models. She had seen me in the person wanted done for a portfolio.

"I thought really, they were among The Mick . I thought it was one of my rugby boys, you up to it.

"But I went back to Glasgow, to meet this, and the next thing I know, I'm meeting a photographer and a hairdresser, and I was always there. "

Jonathan was looking for a campaign for the Scottish menswear brand Slaters.

she had found it difficult to find models for your large and high ranges, and fought, to illustrate on the web-pages with smaller models.

Slater's marketing director, Susan Rose said: "He is a talented man. He is the perfect size and he has shown that he can do nothing. "

He has also modeled for a kilt calendar, travel to stunning locations in the whole of Scotland.

His model agent Mark Conlin saw his friendly personality and positive attitude-attributes that would help him succeed in The Fashion industry. He said Jonathan was there, what the industry is looking for as it expanded and cater for All shapes and sizes.

Jonathan played rugby for More Than 20 years, and now plays for the Caledonian Thebans, the part of The International Gay Rugby Association. In his late teens, he trained in wrestling and has fought as a Professional known as Jocky Saltire - in Florida.

He now works as a care manager for a housing Association in Edinburgh.

Not everyone sees him as a model material. In fact, on his first shoot, he was mistaken, for the photographers.

He said: "I went into The Room , and she thought I was taking the pictures. All The Other Men in The Room were 20 years old with a ripped six-pack, boyish looks, All this nonsense, and it was really Bizarre . "

Jonathan has become The Face of Slaters and high-range

Liam Preston works for the YMCA in The Real campaign, which was trying to teach you to avoid Young People , the media stereo types, and appreciate their own appearances. He is not surprised, Jonathan , was a hit in the industry.

He said: "the setting changes and the industry is always easier to see what people need to see pictures of what you really look like.

"It really is to hear positive stories, like Jonathan 's, where the industry is, to say Yes, to show what looks like The Real world. We want to see models in All shapes and sizes.

The Real campaign fights against body-image anxiety, and in the class room, it is trying to bring campaigns in the body-positivity in an early age, building A Resistance against the media and The Stereotypes you are bombarded with.

Mr. Preston said: "For the young boys, it is All about your skin, clothes, size, muscles, and Hair - All The Ways that you do not feel comfortable in their own skin. The traditional media only shows two pictures of the Young Men - The Skinny rocker type, or someone built and muscly.

"Most Young People are somewhere In Between , and you do not feel, there are people who look like they do. "

Jonathan wrestled In America under the name Jocky Saltire

Jonathan has managed to avoid, the anxiety about his appearance, but is pleased when he can help, and accept others, and you.

He said: "I was the chunky, fat kid in school, but, fortunately, did not suffer bullying - Maybe because of my stature and height.

"I don't think I was particularly body-conscious-be at the age of about 20, but I think to play about rugby and as a part of The Wrestling community over there In America , this has helped me develop a good feeling about myself.

"In wrestling, you wear spandex. It is not going to forgive, then there is The Showers after rugby, everyone is in you, so that you just about it. "

"I enjoy a pork pie and a beer, so nothing will stop me to do that. I held the worry of what other people thought about my body and I actually more of a question of what I do in life and how people perceive that.

"This is more important to me than my appearance. "
