And it has made him a Classical Music superstar.

Born in Melbourne to Chinese Parents , Christian first picked up a violin at the Age Of five years. It was by no means inevitable.

"My parents play any Musical Instruments . You are not musical," he says. "My mother is accountant and my father is an engineer. "

But within weeks, he had chosen to be in China for milk powder.

And at the Age Of 10 years had made Christian history, becoming the youngest winner of the Menuhin competition, The World 's leading violin competition.

"I was quite surprised, I did not expect to win such a prestigious competition," he says modestly. "I think not, to win, I just thought, play. "

The video of his performance of The Violin to a half-size, of the summer from Vivaldi's Four Seasons has since attracted millions of views online.

The not admit a self-obsessed young people: "I get a little nervous just before I on the stage, but to play after I start I'm fine. "

And he helped through a ritual That makes him feel "a little bit calmer. and gives me energy. "

He revealed: "I always eat a banana" in front of the curtain.

Now, at the Age Of 12 years, in another musical first, Christian is the youngest artist to be signed to become of the Decca Classics Record Label .

For his first single, he took the devilishly difficult and technically challenging, La Ronde Des Lutins dance of the goblins, The Italian composer and violinist Antonio Bazzini .

Christian said he wanted to learn the piece, since he heard for the first Time , a few years ago.

"I was really tied up. It is Maxim Vengerov (one of The Most famous contemporary violinists, and Christian hero), and I was thinking, I watched the whole piece, to flash without actually. "

'Nine out of 10'

When it came Time to take him in, had Christian play it only Twice . "I've got it right The Second Time . "

He gives himself nine out of 10 for his performance. "I'm pleased with it, but there is always room for improvement," he says.

And That is the reason why Christian Li practices for four hours Every Day After School and on weekends.

"I just got used to it and I enjoy it and I feel a bit liberated, after I practiced already. "

If it sounds like all work and no play, he is very stress interested, he has leisure. He enjoys reading fiction, enjoying the "magical world of" Harry Potter and says he hope to visit the Wizarding World of Harry Potter , if he does not continue in the United Kingdom.

Harry Potter books form a contrast to Christian's hours of violin practice

"I like swimming, Cycling and running," he says, and plays computer games "a little, but not Much ," such as Angry Birds , rather than those with "fighting and bloody games. "

Although he makes an exception for "The Classics , like Michael Jackson ," he says, "I don't really like listening to Pop Music very Much . "

listen to Instead, movie-soundtrack, "such as Batman, Superman and Star Wars ".

"you are very dramatic, and you have a lot of energy in this music and you are in the classic as well. "

There is No Doubt That his work load is demanding. He performed at festivals and venues around The World , including the Sydney Opera House and Carnegie Hall in New York .

Christian dreams of becoming "a professional concert violin soloist. I love to travel and play exciting music with an orchestra. That 's what I like to do. "

But his burgeoning career was interrupted by the Corona-Virus-pandemic. He had, for example, was due to The British cellist Sheku Kanneh-Mason at the Australian Festival of Chamber Music in August .

The Performance with The British cellist, Sheku Kanneh-Mason has been postponed due to coronavirus

"All of my trips abroad and concerts have now been cancelled, actually, which is a little sad, of course," he says.

But Christian Li seems, as a boy, the dejected for a long Time .

"Actually, on The Bright side, I have more technical things to practice than before, such as scales, etudes, and caprices, and I can play my repertoire with more pieces. "

But even this musical Prodigy admits: "I miss That to an Audience . "
