The Victims of Canada's largest mass shootings

About the 12-hour period, a gunman, who went as a Police Officer on a rampage through the province of Nova Scotia was that The Most deadly shooting in Canadian history. Here is remember what the people swept up in The Tragedy .

Dan Jenkins had plans to see His daughter Alanna on Sunday, but a text from a friend asking him if he'd spoken with her that morning alarmed him.

If you don't Pick Up The Phone , he decided to hop in His car and check on you, drive an hour to their place in Glenholme. If, however, he was in the city, he was a RCMP (Royal Canadian Mounted Police ) blockade. Meanwhile, His phone was bombarded by text messages and phone calls from Alanna's neighbour. Fire it, and possibly gave what sounded like an explosion.

He parked His car and walked about a quarter-mile to memorize a few emergency vehicles of The Police , that something was very wrong. "I'm a dad. I know where my Little Girl is," he told them.

But it would be some days before he received confirmation that His daughter and her partner Sean McLeod killed were 51-year-old Gabriel Wortman, a denturist, who had a clinic outside of Halifax.

their bodies were found in their home, which was completely burned to the ground, and coroners had to identify. Their two Labrador retrievers also died, Mr Jenkins Says . Later, Mr Jenkins would learn, they were two of the 22 victims the largest mass shooting in Canadian history.

among The Victims , two frontline health care employees, an elementary School Teacher , and RCMP Constable Heidi Stevenson, a 23-year veteran of the RCMP and the mother of two. All were adults, except for the 17-year-old Emily Tuck, the killed, in addition to their two parents.

The killings, which was shot down over the 12 Hours it took The Police to chase Wortman from Glenholme all The Way to Enfield, where he was shot by The Police . With 16 different sorts of Crime Scenes , at least, seven different cities in the province, in The Investigation of More Than 25 different units within the RCMP are involved as well as the support of The Canadian armed forces.

the complexity of The case meant that it took several days to identify The Victims , and a few more, before The Police could release a timeline, and there are still large gaps, where Wortman ' s whereabouts is unknown. All the while, Mr. Jenkins was desperate to know what had happened to His daughter, but also afraid of what he might learn.

"There are things we want to find out, and there are [other things] I know if I want to find out," said Mr Jenkins told The Bbc on Tuesday, before the devastating news.

The carnage began on Saturday Evening , in the coastal municipality of Porta pique, about 50 km South of Glenholme. From there, The Police believe that Wortman went on a rampage in the province before dying in a shootout with Police .

Located in The Bay of Fundy, Porta pique has a year round population of only about 100 people, no sidewalks, no Street Lights , and a popular place for summer houses and weekend relaxation is looking for. Local politician Tom Taggart Says Porta pique is "just a typical rural town, where" people know their neighbors.

"These people woke up Saturday to sunshine, a Spring Day , a beautiful, quiet community," he told The Bbc . "They had no idea of the hell that they were going to face The Next morning. "

By 10:30 a.m., Police got a report of shots fired in the area. But when they arrived, several bodies were found, scattered over the meadows and along The Road , and several houses were On Fire . You met A Man Who Said that he shot had been from a passing patrol car by A Man in an RCMP uniform.

Early in The Investigation , The Police honed in Wortman than suspicion. They heard he was. three, replica Police cruiser, both of them in Porta pique, and to His other residence in Halifax

With Wortman's own home On Fire , they thought that he might have committed suicide.

to Believe that it can remain only a limited Crime Scene , they cordoned off a 2km-radius of Porta pique, and said the residents of the home. Over The Course of The Night , they were in all three vehicles but were not able to find The Suspect .

What you don't know, is that there is a fourth Vehicle - a detail that would come back to haunt you, in the coming days, as Wortman The Cover of The Law used to cause confusion. Word of mouth travels rapidly to spread in Nova Scotia , one of Canada's smallest provinces with a population under one million, and news about the Chaos quickly.

As he Debert through the city, about halfway between His apartment and Porta pique, he saw a Police car driving "at a very high rate of speed, with their red and blues flashing" in The Opposite direction.

"I thought: Why walk you this way, if The Action is The Other option?", he told The Bbc .

As A Journalist for over 40 Years , Mr. Sullivan Says he "dealt with some pretty nasty things," including the 1998 Swissair flight 111 crash that killed all 229 passengers and crew. "I have never encountered something," he Says .

The Police are still trying to determine a motive, but they believe Wortman's First Victim was His girlfriend, who escaped after he was attacked by him sometime earlier on Saturday. Hidden in the forests of The Night , she arose at 6 a.m. on Sunday morning after calling 911. She told The Police about The Fourth car, and gave important details about what to wear types of weapons Wortman.

"He had an obsession with His girlfriend. Only the jealous over things with her. I think this is where things came in The Way ," She Said . "She was a Beautiful Girl . "

Police said they are looking for The Gunman in the properties

Wortman also seems to have had a long-standing interest to the RCMP, which is responsible for policing in the province. Some people have pointed out that Wortman said that he liked to repair, decommissioned emergency vehicles of The Police and a copy of His High School Yearbook, which has spread via Social Media , Says : "the gift, the future can be a RCMP officer".

Shortly after, RCMP began receiving calls about a shooter about 50 km North of the Porta pique, in Glenholme. This is where Wortman suspected of killing Alanna Jenkins and her partner Sean MC Leod, as well as your neighbor Tom Bagley. Ms Jenkins and Mr MC Leod were to say to both prison staff and Police , he knew two of the three victims.

Ms Jenkin's father believes that Mr. Bagley had come to check on the couple.

The Suspect then went to a friend's home, dressed as a policeman, and carried a long rifle. He banged His fist on The Door , but His friends did not let him, and instead called The Police . David Matthews Says he was walking with His wife near the highway in Wentworth in the heart of Glenholme at 9 a.m., when he encountered almost Wortman even.

"When we were halfway through The Trail , I Heard this Bang. It was loud enough to have A Shot . It was not really close, but it was not really far," He Said . That pop, he now believes, was shot and killed His neighbor, Lillian Hyslop,. She had moved to the area only a few years ago with Her Husband .

she would often run into each other on walks, and Mr. Matthews believes she was just doing her daily exercise. "You was out for a walk one day," He Said . "I said, sure... you never think that this is The End . "

In The Hours between His rampage in Glenholme and His final confrontation with The Police , Wortman was able to cause the lid to His "very convincing" replica RCMP cruiser and authentic Police uniform to even more Destruction .

Police tweeted that they believed a Police car, The Gunman

"I have a Police Officer for More Than 30 years, and I can't imagine a more terrible circumstances than trying to search for someone who looks like you," said Superintendent Darren Campbell , who was tasked with updating the media on Friday.
