The Police in Nepal, the former speaker of Parliament, Krishna Bahadur Mahara arrested after a female member of staff accused him of rape.
The arrest came after a court in the capital city of Kathmandu issued an arrest warrant against Mr Mahara, who resigned from his post on Tuesday.
The former Maoist rebels, denies The Rape allegations.
The Woman accused him of drunk attacked her in her apartment the previous Sunday.
