Katharine Graham is the first female publisher of a major American newspaper -- The Washington Post. With help from editor Ben Bradlee, Graham races to catch up with The New York Times to expose a massive cover-up of government secrets that spans three decades and four U. S. presidents. Together, they must overcome their differences as they risk their careers -- and very freedom -- to help bring long-buried truths to light.

Coronavirus: Fake and misleading stories that went viral this week

Nov 21,2023 6:31 am

We've all been there. A coronavirus-post, which could be true and sounds about right, but how do we know it exactly?

To help, The Bbc disinformation-monitoring team is fact-checking, and review some of The Most widely used fake and misleading stories of the week.

Was in Brooklyn , I. G. rapping along to The Notorious B. ?

the residents of Brooklyn , in New York City, Rap in unison to one of The Notorious B. I. G. 's greatest hits, while lockdown sounds plausible, isn't it?

to request A video, exactly, the thousands of times, and clocked over a million views in a few days.

The video, filmed by a large building somewhere in New York , scanning over the apartment buildings, which are apparently The Song Juicy by deceased Brooklyn rapper Biggie blaring.

But the posts are fake. We know this because we find that, tipped to appear by a comment on one of the posts, recording a match for a video of a Jay-Z concert in 2010.

We also have the video not shown to Manhattan, Brooklyn

So, the video shows a mass singalong that, if you read the comments, gave people "the creeps".

This is not a 5G antenna

to request A video, to show to the people was tears in China, a 5G mobile antenna used on Social Media and thousands of views it has generated.

actor Woody Harrelson , who has two million Instagram followers, has posted the video: "in the Meantime, the Chinese have 5g antennas down. "

The video is real, but it is old and shows protesters in Hong Kong in August 2019 tear down what was reported, that a "smart-light" equipped to collect the data.

5G is to be installed is the newest high-speed mobile broadband technology, the need for new antennas-masts to The Network to maintain.

The video was shared, as false rumors about a connection between 5G and coronavirus.

Your mate's tip-off on steam? Ignore

contributions, The Claim that the inhalation of steam has helped coronavirus-patient recovery has been spreading on Social Media This Week .

One example, More Than 40,000 times was divided. It seems as if it came from Facebook users in Durham, wrote that he heard "first-hand, that a doctor had Corona virus recovered in double-quick time" after the inhalation of steam.

A similar message has taken different forms - this is coming from someone who has "sister in London", "Queens NY" and "a sister from Pakistan".

There is no evidence that steam inhalation works as a treatment for coronavirus.

the Council is also potentially harmful.

High-temperature steam-cleaning of surfaces in hospitals and elsewhere, the Corona destroyed Virus (as well as other types of viruses) says Prof Keith Neal , a specialist in the study of the spread of infectious diseases at the University of Nottingham.

But any attempt to would be to inhale steam at this temperature is Extremely Dangerous and the risk of burns.

your body's cooling system would say Kick In to limit The Rise in temperature, Prof Neal, and your lungs would certainly be irreparably damaged before reaching a temperature high enough to clear The Virus .

Croatian earthquake-survivors do not Italian patients,

posts with images of hospital beds and patients treated on The Streets go viral on Social Media with the statement that hospitals in Italy have run out of space due to the spread of the Corona Virus.

are released, The pictures are real, but they are not from Italy.

A reverse-image search shows them to have been included in the Croatian capital, Zagreb, after it was hit by an earthquake on 22. March.

seems to have The widely shared post-its origin in India, as well as the government of a country has imposed a wide block on the 25th of March.

It was shared More Than 17,000 times and is now also used by users outside of India.

Indian journalist Rajat Sharma , also the images tweeted with the misleading statement. He deleted The Post within a couple of hours, but it was already retweeted More Than 6,000 times.

baking soda remedy in Russia

A Russian scientist has said that a man bacterium has somehow merged with the new coronavirus and is The Reason why people die and recommends to treat of baking powder.

The scientists described as "one of The Most influential in The World ".

The Interview appeared on a popular Russian YouTube channel and has More Than four million views.

But there is no evidence to support this - the disease Covid-19 by the coronavirus alone.

It is also not the case that baking soda can help, if you are infected with the Corona Virus, or to prevent the infection from him.

Irene and Ken not this message

to approve Some of the misleading online posts are hard to detect because they contain good and bad medical advice.

they can be drawn by thrown The Good out of what seems to be from a reputable source, And Then you can be unprepared when bad advice is in The Mix .

A good example of this is a message is Johns Hopkins University in the USA attributed to.

It has been widely used in different forms, sometimes the result of a medical expert, Irene, Ken, suggesting ways to prevent the "contagion."

There are some reasonable advice, how can you not wash your hands or vodka is strong enough alcohol to kill The Virus .

the Other parts are, however, inaccurate - among them, Listerine is A Brand of mouthwash, 65% alcohol (it is much less than that).

The Johns Hopkins University, says it had nothing to do with these posts.
