Stansted Airport evacuated due to suspicious package
Passengers have been evacuated from Stansted Airport after reports of a suspicious package in the security area, police said.
Essex Police said a cordon had been Set Up and military explosive experts would assess The Package .
The Force said passengers had been evacuated from the area of The Airport and " brought to a position of safety".
Stansted Airport confirmed The Incident and said police were managing the response.
Passenger Steve Born, who was flying out to Malaga at 17:25 BST to visit his father, said water and space blankets were being handed out to those evacuated outside The Airport .
He Said he thought it " could be a while" before they were allowed back in.
" We expect delays. No-one's even given an update yet, " He Said .
" We've just been told on the app to go to the gate but there are still no updates from The Airport . There's armed police present but not a lot of activity. "
Update from Stansted Airport : a Ryanair representative, also stranded outside of The Terminal , told me that the flights will departure at the schedule time and we will get a new spot, free of charge, on The Next available flight, possibly today or tomorrow
