Coronavirus: "you clap for me' - the film celebrates the ethnic minority of the workers

Apr 18,2020 11:40 pm

A film that celebrates the black, Asian and ethnic minorities to help key workers to deal with the Corona Virus pandemic, the viral went with millions of views.

The video on the doctors, delivery drivers, teachers and celebrities such as comedian Tez Ilyas .

Its Director, Darren Smith says, coronavirus, has a feeling of solidarity within the society.

He hopes The Film will encourage people to, "continue to be open, inclusive and tolerant," when the pandemic is over.

The Film called Clapping For Me Now offers a range of workers from ethnic minorities reading of lines in a poem.

It contains the verse: "do not say Go Home , do not say, Not Here , you know how it feels for a home a prison, you know, how it feels To Live In Fear .

"So, clap for me Now , all this love that you bring. But do not forget, when it is no longer quiet, forget you, when you hear no longer The Birds Singing . "

The video Features key workers such as doctors, nurses, delivery drivers, teachers and social workers

Darren says he wanted some of the "hateful language" some of the municipalities have on The Poem and underline also, that the Corona Virus is the "common enemy".

"eventually, we will be strengthened in all of this, and we will be flashing the kind of go-in the sun," he told The Bbc .

"I think there are a lot of challenges, but I think The Sense of community and solidarity with The People there.

"The big thing I would want is The People from the movie, that we continue to be open and inclusive and tolerant.

"And we praise The People that it is a really hard job to look after us and Our Friends and our neighbors and our loved ones. "

the transactions were considered as significant companies, the Leakage of the government during the lockdown

Darren thinks, and the government brought about divisions In Society in The Last few years.

But the coronavirus has seen pandemic, a "positive change" to people, which is becoming much more welcoming to black workers, or ethnic minorities, he says.

Darren shared The Poem with his colleagues Sachini Imbuldeniya - who produced the video and came up with the idea to use it in a shared movie.

it is aimed at key persons and celebrities on the participation and of any person recorded, one line of The Poem of your lockdown.

Dr. Zoe Williams , as voted on ITV's This Morning , to be involved after reading The Poem .

she is training to go and work at The Nightingale Hospital in London, which was decorated to the treatment of coronavirus patients and share your experiences on Instagram.

"That poem gave me goosebumps," she told The Bbc . "It is really positive, but at the same time, it is a direct Message reminds us of some of the terrible inequalities and some of the racism in the NHS for so long. "

she says she knows of NHS colleagues, the racism, the patient and you, too, once had someone say they didn't want to be treated, because you don't know.

"The Poem is a strong reminder of, perhaps, those guilty of racism in The Past ," she says.

"But mostly, it's a really positive Message for you - look how We Are Now , the appreciation of The People by the value of their contribution and their friendliness and their willingness to put themselves in danger to serve others.

"This is, as we have appreciation instead of evaluation, based on the color of their skin, or where you were born or how much money you. "

The video shows a mixture of the first, second and third generation of immigrants who live in the UK

comedian Tez Ilyas also appears in The Film and shared it on Twitter, where the trending began with about 47,000 likes and retweets of 23,000.

Darren says, the reaction to The Film was mostly positive and they owe Tez a "curry and a drink", for his support, as soon as the lockout is over.

"I don't feel responsible for it," he says. "It is a kind of alien-thing happened somewhere outside of me. It is like an out of body experience, really, but I'm really satisfied, because The Message is powerful. And it is a Testament to all who have contributed to this.

"is The positive reaction A Sign that it strikes hope. People are becoming more open and tolerant coexistence of different views and opinions, which is nice. "

It only took a week to put the video together,

says Darren, that while everyone can not see the video, in a positive way, The Film wanted to Shine a spotlight on a "topic that has been ignored".

He Said he wanted the light on the difference in The Situation in The Last few years, and Now .

"Two years ago, the idea of The People coming out of their front door and clap for some of the ethnic minorities in the UK, which would still be the same work that they did do two years ago, the idea hadn't somehow imagine in a world of Brexit", he says.

"It feels right to tell us, 'this is the difference Now ," it is a positive difference, and we celebrate that. But let's just make sure we keep it going and not forget it. "
