Ireland wins seat on the UN security Council
The Republic of Ireland won a seat in the security Council of the United Nations for 2021/22.
It has secured 128 votes in the 191-nation-to win General Assembly in New York , a two-year non-permanent seat.
Norway secured a seat after a vote by the General Assembly of the United Nations .
The 15-member Council has five permanent members - the US, Britain, France, Russia and China - and 10 non-permanent seats, filled on a rotating basis.
Taoiseach (Irish Prime Minister), Leo Varadkar Ireland's return to The Council , "said is a recognition of our work on the international stage over many Decades ".
