The Corona-Virus pandemic has hit nursing homes hard. For the early part of The Crisis , it was quiet and virtually ignored.
Prior to the lockdown, Newsnight visited a nursing home in Blackpool, by The Charity MHA, to find out how they were preparing for a possible pandemic in their 90 houses in the whole of the UK. The North -West of England, has since become one of the strongest parts of the country
In this Special Report , the program is listening to Kate Razzall by MHA staff about The Way The Crisis unfolded in nursing homes.
The Department or The Department of health and Social care, said his priority is to ensure that nurses and those who care protected the needy, and that the latest statistics show that over 60% of the nursing homes had no outbreak at all.
A spokesman said a package of support for residents and staff has been set, but "More still needs to be done," and additional funding has been made available to the local authorities.
