Dec 3,2023 11:11 am

Councils in England will receive an additional £105m to support the rough sleepers to put in lockdown.

thousands of rough sleepers were accommodated in hotels and B& Bs as a coronavirus hits.

But the councils and charities had called for help, in order to ensure that people have to open the back of the road, as the hotels on the 4. July .

lady Louise Casey , said the government takes the rough sleeping task force, that meant financing, no one would need to return to rough sleeping.

More resources for drug and alcohol support services also will be brought to the front.

But the financing is not a long-term solution for homelessness. It is to be developed as a stopgap until longer-term strategies can later in the year.

'were All given in'

At the start of lockdown, English councils, to move the days of thousands of homeless people from the street and from the women's houses in separate rooms, many of which are in hotels.

The government estimates that 14 helped to have 500 employees So Far , under the scheme, which was known as " Everyone 'In'.

last week, three-quarters of the homeless in 17 areas were still in shelters, with some rough sleep.

the councils and charities warned that more would soon join them, if a proper solution was not found, in front of hotels, they were allowed to re-open to The Public from 4th. July .

The government's rough sleeping task force, said the new funding period, which meant no one needed to get back on the road

Now, the councils will be a Further £105m to support the rough sleepers, for example, through extension of the existing contracts with hotels, or new start, with other providers, such as universities or youth hostels.

Most of this is a new medium, with a £20m existing government homelessness budget removed. It will decide up to individual authorities to, as with the money.

A Further £16m of planned expenditure on drug-and alcohol-preferred support for homeless people this year.

The devolved governments in Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland will also receive Extra money under the Barnett formula.

'Extraordinary opportunity'

communities Secretary Robert Jenrick said the new funding of homeless people "have access to accommodation and support they need would give, now, while we deliver more with plans to thousands of long-term houses in The Coming months. "

The efforts So Far had created to sleep in an "exceptional opportunity" at the end of the rough, said Louise Casey , the Chairman of the Covid-19 rough sleeping task force.

"I'm clear that there is now no going Back To The Streets , as the people begin to move from The Emergency accommodation, the said in place," She Said .

Before the announcements, several warned aid organisations, of the urgent need for Further support.

Petra Salva, The Director of the rough sleeping services in the homelessness charity St Mungo's said: "the talks begin looking to pass to exit planning - we have weeks, at best, a few months after alternative solutions. "

Cllr David Renard, The Local Government Association's housing spokesman, said the councils were satisfied about the additional resources.

"councils want to take this opportunity to change the lives of our most vulnerable residents and have plans already to support people in the transition from emergency accommodation. "

However, He Said , the councils also wanted to be allowed to these rough sleepers without recourse to public funds, access to social services, the relief of homelessness.
