Trump impeachment: Pelosi launches investigation in Ukraine claims

Dec 30,2022 11:11 pm

The US Democratic Party has begun a formal impeachment inquiry into President Donald Trump over allegations to damage that he is under pressure of a foreign power, a political rival.

the Top Democrat, Nancy Pelosi , said The President , "must be held accountable".

Mr Trump has denied wrongdoing and called the efforts a "Witch Hunt ".

There is a strong support of house Democrats for impeachment, but the procedure would probably not pass the Republican-controlled Senate.

The high stakes move of House Speaker Ms Pelosi, prompted by accusations that the set Mr Trump under pressure to investigate the Ukrainian President, his leading political rival, Joe Biden , lays the Foundation for a potentially enormously momentous confrontation between the Democrats and The President before the election in 2020.

If the request moves forward, the Democrats controlled The House of representatives to vote on fees. If Democrats were to remain United to the action to be performed - and Mr Trump would be charged with the third President in the History of the United States.

But the procedure would be expected to be in The Senate , where The President considers the Republican Party enough seats to prevent that by him removed from office by a two-thirds majority.

Ms Pelosi is no timeline for how The Process could play.

As we have here?

Senior Democrats, including Ms Pelosi had previously resisted to begin growing demands within The Party to impeachment proceedings. But The Party leadership united on the question of intelligence, the inserted whistleblowers, a formal complaint to one or several phone calls between President Trump and Ukrainian presidents Vladimir Zelensky.

The trump administration has so far refused to let the whistleblower complaint to the Congress but Democrats, Mr Trump say threatened to deny military assistance to Ukraine, unless Mr Zelensky agreed to investigate unsubstantiated allegations of corruption against Mr Trump's leading political rival Joe Biden and his son Hunter.

Mr Trump has admitted, to discuss Joe Biden with Mr Zelensky. He has denied he put pressure on the Ukrainian President to investigate his political rivals.

On Tuesday, Mr Trump confirmed that the military assistance to Ukraine had been denied, but said he had done this to try and pressure the European Nations to their contributions to the country.

both presidents were indicted in U.S. History - Andrew Johnson in 1868 and Bill Clinton in 1998. But neither were removed from office by a Senate study.

Richard Nixon stepped forward in August 1974, he could be accused.

The Dam is broken

for months now, Democratic leaders are playing a semantics game. They wanted those who supported and those who think against a formal impeachment inquiry into President Trump to both of you, that you will get what you wanted.

This strategy is proposed, Nancy Pelosi , and others feared, down The Path to impeachment would be fighting moderate Democrats facing difficult 2020 re-election in danger.

That calculation has changed after the rapid drumbeat of new revelations about the Mr Trump, the contacts with the Ukrainian President. Now even middle-of-the-road politicians from coming to proceedings in favour of the prosecution.

The Dam is broken. The Genie is out of The Bottle . You Choose Your Metaphor. The simple fact of the matter is that Ms. Pelosi has taken a keen judge of the political mood in their group, the decision to change, to be in favour of resistance against impeachment it.

The Path in the future is uncertain. Opinion polls could show, the latest drama is a tribute to one party or The Other to crumble creating the political will. Or both sides Dig In for a long, grueling battle that could drag in the darkest days of winter.

What Nancy Pelosi has to say?

In a statement on Tuesday said the Lord had told Trump his oath of office and engaged in "a violation of The Law ". She called his actions "a violation of his constitutional functions".

"This Week , The President has admitted that he take of The President of Ukraine for measures that would benefit him politically," She Said , adding: "The President must be held accountable. No one is above The Law . "

Mr. Biden, denied wrongdoing, and no evidence surfaced to back up the claims against him. He has also said he supports impeachment proceedings, unless the US President agrees with studies.

impeachment, Mr Trump "would be said a tragedy," Mr Biden. "But the tragedy of his power. "He is the current frontrunner to Mr Trump in the 2020 election.

Mr Trump, and Republicans respond?

In a series of tweets, Mr Trump said Democrats "deliberately to ruin and degrade" his trip to the UN in New York , "with more breaking news "Witch Hunt "garbage".

"you never have the transcript of the conversation saw. In Total, Witch-Hunt!", he added.

He promised the publication of a transcript of his conversation with Ukraine's President on Wednesday to show that it was "entirely appropriate". to move

In his answer to the Democrats, house Republican leader Kevin Mccarthy said: "Speaker Pelosi is the speaker of this house, but she doesn't speak for America, when It Comes to this topic. "

"you can't decide, unilaterally, we are in an impeachment inquiry," he added.

Meanwhile, the acting Director of US national intelligence, Joseph Maguire , refused to share that a whistleblower report with the Congress. He is by witnesses in front of a public house intelligence committee hearing on Thursday.

In a separate development, the addiction unnamed whistleblower, to meet directly with the legislator. House Intelligence Committee Chairman Adam Schiff suggested in a tweet that this could happen later This Week .

What happens next?

Ms Pelosi the notice are to investigate an official kick-off for the legislator, the US President phone call with the Ukrainian leader and determine whether he committed an impeachable offense.

In the announcement, Ms Pelosi said the six congressional committees already investigating Mr. Trump would continue their work, but now under The Umbrella of a formal impeachment inquiry.

If The Process moves forward in The House of representatives votes on one or more articles of impeachment. If any pass would be to move The Process to The Senate , where a two-thirds majority is required - and where The Republicans are holding sway.

Ukrainians think about their President, the role of

commentators in Ukraine, see President Vladimir Zelensky s role in this matter than a random, but at the same time believe that it could lead to the History -making consequences.

The, a daily newspaper, warns President Zelensky against the sides in the drama in Washington. "Ukraine is facing an unstoppable tsunami, and our President is only surfing a little," it says.

Some argue that the timing could not be worse for President Zelensky, which is planned to be Donald Trump in New York on Wednesday later. Public TV channel Pershy describes the controversy as a "case" for Ukraine.

"It would be stupid to start to play in the hands of the Democrats or Republicans", one of the channel of the commentators.

Others claim that the Ukrainian President has politicians on the run. "Zelensky has two guns in his hands: a note on trump, and The Other is on Biden," says Pryamy TV.
