About Parliament Square


Parliament Square is a square at the northwest end of the Palace of Westminster in the City of Westminster in central London. It features a large open green area in the centre with trees to its west, and it contains twelve statues of statesmen and other notable individuals.

It is a lot more that we need to do" to combat racism, but the UK should not try to "re-write The Past " by removing historical symbols, the PM has said.

Mr Johnson also condemned the "extreme right-wing thugs" involved in violent protests on Saturday, More Than 100 people were arrested in London, after thousands gathered, said they were statues of protection.

He Said the mission had "completely absurd," but he added that it was "unfortunate" that Sir Winston Churchill statue was in danger of attack.

It was after The Statue in Parliament Square spray-painted with The Words "was a racist" Last Weekend . In Bristol, anti-racism protesters a statue of a slave-dealer Edward Colston moved.

Mr Johnson wrote: "We need to fight the substance of The Problem , the icons. to write

"We don't need, to The Present , trying to recreate The Past - and that is, we cannot and must not remain sucked into the never-ending debate on the well-known historical figure is pure enough, or politically correct to the public. "
