About North America

Narrated by Tom Selleck and featuring Bon Jovi's `Army of One' as its theme song, the sweeping seven-part documentary `North America' captures a land where life collides with hostile, untamed wilderness in one of the most diverse, deadly environments on Earth. The series, which took more than three years to produce, includes stories of animals struggling to survive unforgiving weather and rugged terrain, from the frigid Yukon Territory and the lush forests of Belize, to the snow-capped Rocky Mountains and the barren deserts of the American Southwest. A `making of' episode chronicles the challenges faced by the production team, including Hurricane Irene and other natural disasters. … MORE

"Our efforts to create an incremental reform failed. Period of time. "

Ms Bender said the details of the overhaul plan had to be discussed, adding that she would try to shift police funding to community-based strategies.

Meanwhile, The City Council tweeted Alondra Cano, that "a veto-proof majority" in The Council had agreed that The City 's police Department "is not reformable and that we go to the end of the current policing system".

The establishment of a new community-led body is likely to take several months, BBC North America correspondent Peter Bowes says.

The reform plan in Minneapolis also represents what is likely to be a long and complicated debate about New Ways of police work in the United States .
