The Singer his new Album is inspired by everyone from David Bowie and Bob Dylan to Abba and Robbie Williams

"I seem to get asked a lot about Music That has no meaning," says Declan Mckenna .

You need to listen to, a lot to make this Album . Each song seems to have six or seven different styles.

This is because of all the different phases of the recording. I started At Home on a laptop, then I have shown That songs with a band, then we actually took The Album in Nashville . As the songs developed as we went.

Would You say this is rare These Days , when so many songs are based on loops?

When I first started, I wrote in Brazil on a loop pedal. I was a looper: That was, as I have done, and how much of my Music was written. I don't think I have it at all on the new record. I tried to step away from this and say: "I put The Song on a single instrument and just let it grow?"

I would, "the fastest gun in the Solar System ", only because I love poetry. I wrote it with My Friend Jake, who was really interested in the sci-fi /real-life-setting of The Album . He started throwing all these strange, Space Western ideas with me.

I would have gone for "The Apocalypse has never sounded so much fun".

It is true, because the songs at their core, are so sad, But with the production, The Groove , they are quite funny.

Yes , the destruction was on my mind the whole process of recording. I was constantly thinking, "Wow, we have no idea where we are going to end up in a couple of years ago and it is frightening".

A Prime example for me work-wise in the studio. If You just sit there and they are peaceful and think about the recording, these are the moments That tie things and think, "Oh, this is how we do it, the loads will be better". Whereas, if You are on your Phone , You have zones and You must not.

But it is a difficult for me, because I love loads of The Internet culture, and love it, on my Phone - But The Balance is very difficult, because it is an addictive Instrument.

I just try and put down The Phone .

You stay there?

I do quite a lot, to be fair. Like , when we were in Nashville , I knew we had a couple of weeks ago and That was pretty much it, so I was really concentrated. If I'm home, it's a different story.

My Friend made me this account called buttons, which is very aesthetically pleasing videos about guitar pedals, so I've been watching a lot of guitar pedal reviews!

There is a lot of fear involved. My Generation has a lot of very frightened Young People . It is so intense, and it is so draining to see an ISIS beheading, followed by a cat meme. [At The End ] You don't feel things in the same way, You could have reacted, before The Internet - either hilarious or terrible. You may have a stronger reaction, if it is not so much.
