James Earl Carter Jr. is an American politician and humanitarian who served as the 39th president of the United States from 1977 to 1981. A member of the Democratic Party, he served as the 76th governor of Georgia from 1971 to 1975, and as a Georgia state senator from 1963 to 1967.

Abiy Ahmed was awarded Ethiopia's Prime Minister in April 2018

The 2019 Nobel peace prize, the Ethiopian Prime Minister , Abiy Ahmed , made peace in the past year, with bitter enemy Eritrea .

He received The Prize for his efforts to promote peace and international cooperation".

Mr Abiy's peace Treaty with Eritrea , a 20-year, ended in military stalemate after their 1998-2000 Border War .

He was as The Winner of the 100-year-old winner of the Nobel peace prize in Oslo , where he will receive the award in December.

It is worth about nine million Swedish crowns (about £of 730,000; $ 900,000).

after The Announcement , Mr Abiy said he was "humbled and thrilled".

"Thank You very much. It is given a price, for Africa , for Ethiopia and I can only imagine how the rest of Africa heads of state and government to take it to work positively, to [the] peace-building process on our continent," he said in a telephone conversation with The Secretary of the Norwegian Nobel Committee.

a total of 301 candidates were nominated for the coveted award, including 223 individuals and 78 organizations.

There was great speculation about who would win The Prize , with climate activist Greta Thunberg widely tipped as the favorite. If the Prime Minister , Abiy stretched out his hand, President Afwerki terms, and contributed to the formalization of The Peace process between the Two Countries . The Norwegian Nobel Committee hopes to bring The Peace agreement to positive changes for the entire population of Ethiopia and Eritrea . "

Since the Eritrea -deal, Mr Abiy - the youngest head of government in Africa 's participation in peace processes in other African countries, The Committee said. This helps the mediation of an agreement between the Sudanese military and the civilian opposition after months of protests.

Mr Abiy's office said the award was the statement that "the ideals of unity, cooperation and mutual coexistence that the Prime Minister , for years, consistently championing".

"He urgently needs to ensure that his government added to the addresses of the persistent ethnic tensions and threaten instability and further Human Rights violations," it.
