Brexit: the Bill is designed to stop no-deal "is clear, Lords'

Feb 16,2020 7:18 am

The Government has said a draft law to stop a no-deal-UK leaving the EU becomes its passage through The Lords on Friday.

The proposed legislation was passed by MPs on Wednesday, caused a defeat of Prime Minister Boris Johnson .

It claims a pro-British EU-exit of peers could intentionally hold up The Bill , so that they could not get king approval in the Parliament prorogued next week.

Following Wednesday's vote, No 10 says, the audience Will have a choice between a deal, no deal", or "more delay".

Downing Street said the Prime Minister in a speech later, the setting, the "critical choice before Our Country ".

"It is clear that the only action is to go back to the people and give them the opportunity to decide what you want: Boris go to Brussels and ask for an offer or without you on 31. October or Jeremy Corbyn arrival in Brussels with his rendition of account begging for more delay, more Dithering and accept what Will be imposed also always conditions of Brussels, who said about our nation," the speaker is.

Mr. Johnson's address comes after the Conservative chief whip in The Lords reports a breakthrough on the account in the Early Hours of the morning after talks with Labour.

The peers sat till 01:30 BST, Will hold a series of amendment votes, the support appeared to predict a marathon filibuster say developed Session to derail The Bill - was in full swing.

But then, Lord Ashton of Hyde announced that all of the stages of The Bill be BST completed in the masters at 17:00 on Friday.

He added that The Commons chief whip also had a commitment that MPs consider all The Lords amendments on Monday and the Government 's intention that the "bill Will be ready" presented to the Royal Assent .

head of the Labour party, Jeremy Corbyn predicted that his party needed to win The Bill Royal Assent , before considering backing Mr Johnson's call for a General election.

Baroness Smith, Labour leader in the upper house, confirmed the opposition supported The Move in The Lords the night, and said she hoped that it would be "no more frustration" of The Bill , as he goes through all the stages on Friday.

"It's a long night. It has been a long debate and I Am grateful that the noble lords who have stayed the course - it shows the importance of The Work we do, and the question we are debating," She Said .

"I'm grateful that we confirm now that we Will be able to all the phases of change in a time-honored way, by 5pm Friday. "

What you want to say the no-deal bill?

The Bill , introduced by the Labour MP Hilary Benn , says the Prime Minister have to 19. October, to approve either pass an offer in the Parliament or receive the deputies, the Escape is a no-deal.

Once this period has expired, he Will . at the request of an extension to the UK departure date to 31 December January, 2020.

Unusually, the draft stipulates, the text of The Letter from Mr Johnson to send a letter to The President of the European Council would have.

If the EU responds with a proposal for a different date, the watch Will accept Two Days to the proposal.

During this time, the MPs - not the Government - Will have the opportunity to reject that date.

The Bill also requires the Minister to report to The House of Commons in the next few months. potentially more opportunities to be in control of the schedule.

supported by the opposition MPs and 21 Tory rebels are working with, you Will be exposed to the press before the Parliament next week.

The Prime Minister was also defeated on Wednesday about his plan to snap General elections on 15 October.

labour and other opposition MPs would not move, while the option of no-deal-UK to exit the EU on the 31. October open remained, the clock.

He needed to vote two-thirds of all the members - according to The Rules , Acting by the Fixed terms parliaments - But after The Work of its members whipped to miss out, before there were only 298 in favor of the motion and 56. That left Mr Johnson 133 short of his goal.

after the vote, the Prime Minister said, Mr Corbyn was "The First leader of the opposition to refuse in the democratic history of Our Country , and The Invitation to a choice".

he said, He "urged [to reflect Mr. Corbyn' s] colleagues, on the untenability of this position overnight, and in the course of the next few days".

But earlier, the Labour leader, Mr Johnson, the quote "an Apple for Snow White by the Evil Queen . offers the venom of the no-deal".

He added: "pass, Let us have this law [to block a no deal] and gain Royal Assent , then we Will not be a choice, so that we fall. "

The Government claims that the progress in the revision of the draft elements of the redemption agreement is carefully drafted in The Past two years.

But Michel Barnier , the head of the European Brexit negotiator, is reported to have told European diplomats that the negotiations with London over the terms and conditions for Britain's withdrawal from the EU are in a state of paralysis.

He also noted that the UK appeared to be intent on reducing the ambition in the political Declaration, the next Phase of the negotiations.
