Trump: Iran to 'Stand down' after rocket fire

Jun 5,2020 3:55 am

US President Donald Trump has said that Iran "seems to be to stand down", after it with missile bases housing U.S. forces in Iraq fired on air.

Mr Trump, in a televised address from the White house, said no US or Iraqi deaths suffered by the victims in the attacks, and the basics, the only minimal damage.

The Irbil and Al-Asad-the basics of local time, were attacked on Wednesday morning.

Iran said it was in retaliation for The Assassination of a top Iranian General Qasem Soleimani , last week.

The U.S. drone strikes targeting him and the Iran -supported militia figures in the Iraqi capital, Baghdad, was a major escalation in The Middle , the deterioration of relations between Iran and the United States.

Iran 's Supreme leader Ali Khamenei described the rocket attacks as a "slap in The Face " for the United States and called for an end to The American presence in the Middle East .

On Wednesday evening, at least two of the missiles fell in Baghdad in the heavily fortified Green Zone , where the U.S.-is message. There were no reports of damage or casualties.

The U. S. attack on the Soleimani, the killed members of the pro-Iranian, Iraqi militias, have also said they would seek revenge.

However, US Vice-President Mike Pence told Cbs News that "intelligence" indicated that Iran had asked its allied militias not to attack US targets.

"We don't get the promotion intelligence services that Iran is sending messages to is militias is precisely this movement, against American targets or civilians, and we hope that this message, said echo," Mr. Pence, of the news channel.

What do you say, Mr. Trump, on Wednesday?

The President has previously threatened military action against Iran , if it is the goal of US personnel and bases, but he did not announce any military action, namely, the Iran attack, no losses had caused.

"No Americans were injured in the Last Night attack of the Iranian regime," he said.

"Iran seems to be, that is a good thing for all concerned," he added.

He also said that "American strength, military and economic, is The Best deterrent". "The fact that we are, does not mean that these great military and equipment, but also that we have to use it. "

Several rockets landed away from the bases

Mr Trump said the United States would continue to be an additional financial and economic sanctions against Iran that would, until it "changed its "behavior".

"Iran must be the renunciation of its nuclear ambitions and its support for terrorism," he said.

"The civilized world, they must have a clear and unified message to the Iranian regime. Your campaign of terror, murder and manslaughter will not be tolerated any more. It is not allowed to go forward. "

Back to business as usual?

President Trump's speech was a curious amalgam of threats, romp, with a touch of de-escalation.

Nevertheless, he was still beating on further economic sanctions against Tehran. He triumphed in The Killing of Gen Soleimani that he described as "The World 's top terrorist".

But there were essentially three core statements. First, de-escalation. There was no U. S. losses by Iranian missile attacks. He said that Iran was "loose", probably the return of the deployed missile troops to their bases. He didn't want to endanger an immediate US response.

Secondly, - the nuclear business. He called The Other signatories 2015 nuclear Agreement - the JCPOA-who left US a long time to him as a bad job.

Thirdly, - said the U. S. energy independence, he urged the Nato States "very much stronger in the Middle East process". This will inevitably, as a further signal that the US is exhausting for its role in the region and will not be welcome by his allies, either in the Middle East or in Nato.

So the a speech full of Trumpian contradiction, and The Few references to a better future for the Iranian people barely tangible hope for a new diplomatic initiative. So in The Wake of the US drone attack, and Iranian missile attacks, so it seems to be back to business as usual.

What happens in the rocket attacks?

a total of 16 missiles, the said at least three locations in Iran , Minister of defense Mark Esper ,.

at least 11 of them, on the air base in Al Asad hit, West of Baghdad, at least another hit of the Irbil-based, he said.

Several other rockets fell in some distance from the objectives.

The attacks happened at about 02:00 local time on Wednesday (22:30 GMT on Tuesday ).

Joint Chiefs Chairman Mark Milley, said he believed that early warning systems losses had been prevented.

"[What] I believe, after what I saw and what I know is that she said were destined to destroy structural damage, vehicles and equipment and aircraft, the kill, and employees," he said.

The attacks came only hours after the funeral of Soleimani, who controls Iran 's proxy forces in the entire Middle East .

It is The Most direct attack by Iran on the US since the seizure of the U.S. Embassy in Tehran in 1979.

Only a few hours after the rocket fire. There is no evidence that the two incidents are connected.

Several airlines have announced they are avoiding both the Iranian and Iraqi air space in The Middle of The Rising voltage.

As we have here?

the murder of the Soleimani, the Head of The Revolutionary guards' elite Quds Force and architect of the Iranian policy in the region - took place on may 3. May. January.

The General was considered a terrorist by the US government that says he was responsible for the deaths of hundreds of American troops and was planning "imminent" attacks.

Iran has vowed "severe revenge" for his death. Mr. Trump, meanwhile, the United States would be warned to react in the case of the retribution, "maybe in a disproportionate way".

millions of Iranians turned out for The Commander 's funeral and the mourning chants of "death to America" and "death to trump".

and A rush to the funeral in Soleimani, the home city of Kerman killed 50 people and injured 200 more on Tuesday .
