Season 2 features a new storyline and cast headed by Suranne Jones. She portrays Laurie Franklin, an off-duty police officer who finds herself caught up in a strange sequence of events beginning when a commuter train is halted by a suicide jumper. Laurie then learns that a newborn baby has been abandoned at the local hospital, and it soon becomes clear to her that the two events must be connected. But both the train's victim and the baby remain unidentified. As she is drawn deeper into the mystery, Laurie realizes this might not be a simple case at all, but something much darker.

Coronavirus: Devon care homes hit were "so fast'

Nov 24,2023 3:51 pm

Ed Bliss said Two People died within The First hour of him arriving at the home

care homes in England have tried In Vain to protect their vulnerable from Covid-19, but The Virus has swept through many, contributing to thousands of deaths and caused a widespread crisis about The Way it was handled. A care home boss describes the reality of trying to stop The Virus , it got through The Doors .

"It was so unprecedented and of such unfamiliar Territory - were to change Things so quickly. On The First day I went in within The First hour, there were Two Deaths .

"had you not run the people around who have the capacity, or understanding, the insight, to kill that walking around, potentially, themselves to or infect the other inhabitants. "

Less than Two Weeks in The National lockdown, Ed Bliss learned that residents and employees at his family-run care homes in Devon were, the possible signs of Covid-19.

Primley court Primley view in Paignton had closed their doors for the visitors and the relatives of Two Weeks before the Prime Minister , the announcement on the 23. March. But from The First week of April, several residents of the two premises, the 100 employees and the support for up to 80 persons with dementia, was seriously ill, and the entire a-team was sick, or isolating themselves.

"[Primley court] was taken so quickly, the staff was wiped out," said Ed. "Our top-five senior employees were Taken Out of The Game , we had lost our rudder.

"We had to isolate 40% of our employees on the ground either sick or self, so we were still in a house near full capacity with complex dementia care, with 60% of its own employees and is limited to senior Management . "

Primley court Primley view, were both hit by The Virus

Optima care partnership-was made by Ed's father, Paul, 34 years ago and is a family business based in Weston-super-Mare. It takes care of people with different types of dementia and the need for psychiatric, rehabilitation or end-of-life Home Care services in Bristol, North Somerset and Devon.

The First coronavirus symptoms were seen in the Paignton houses on 3. April and a small number of residents that were tested for Five Days later. The results that came back on 11 April, showed some of the tested were positive for The Virus .

the Management of the houses and concerns Two Days later, The Number of the inhabitants are lethargic without a fever with the Torbay Council quality assurance and improvement Team (QAIT) and Public Health England (PHE), and insisted that more people needed swabbed to be.

But Ed, the Director of dementia services, said a consultant at PHE, she said lethargy was a symptom of The Virus and further testing was unnecessary.

"We said:" we need help here", and we were not always as easy as we wanted. While understanding that this is just Wild, never-before-seen, where The Hole was," He Said .

"The Social care sector has been treated as second class for the NHS. Second week in lockdown, there was nothing, no focus on social care. That is, if you would, at this point, and that is where it fell. "

The Situation was escalated by QAIT and on 18 April all the residents and staff were tested for The Virus . With The Situation becoming increasingly critical to A Number of deaths that a specialist team from Torbay Hospital has been called for help. Ed, his nephew and sister-in-law, all of them are nurses, after joined them soon.

"We knew that [the employees] were really struggling and we had to Do Something ," said Ed, who usually works in a house in the vicinity of Bristol. "We were told by the NHS infection control team, "it is a High Risk of this'. That was just something that We Are prepared to accept goods. "

in the fight against the spread of The Virus , floors were isolated and the staff worked on a construction site to reduce The Risk of cross-infection. The Changes upset the residents with dementia-complex more, with some more violent and spitting to stop a particular risk if you try the spread of The Virus .

For the residents of corona virus show symptoms, official advice was to find you in your room, but Ed said This Was "impossible".

"you have to Imagine - the residents come out of their rooms to keep the We Are trying desperately, in their rooms, but we can't keep, because of the emergency, the cause and varying degrees of care guidelines.

"That is what We Are constantly up against. It is indescribable, because you are in The Middle of it, you're in The Middle of the danger. "

Many of the employees had brought in to help, no experience of working in a nursing home setting or as a dementia care in a complex plane. Staff were also trying The Challenge , to the people, many of whom have difficulties in communication, while dressed head to toe in protective clothing and PPE.

"the covered one half of her face, they have plastic all over them, the gloves and the only thing they really communicate [with] is the voice of this dull and your eyes," said Ed. to manage

by far one of the most difficult Things was lost, the impact on the families, the relatives, said Ed.

"make a phone call to say" mom is close, it was very difficult, very foreign. This kind of emotional call... you can't hold someone's hand, you can't see how really you are annoyed about what you say.

"The conversation with someone over The Phone is not what we do here, but that's all we had. have Someone says to you, to know that you are not their mom or dad will be able to see that you take will probably die within The Next 24 hours... to get away from the families is catastrophic. You just can't understand how crushing that is. "

The nursing homes now have the all-clear by Public Health England

until The End of April the outbreak in both houses had stabilized, and you now have the all-clear by PHE. In spite of The Challenges they face, Ed said, the support from the Care Quality Commission, PHE and local authorities was "excellent", while an incredibly difficult time.

"We wanted to see more support within The First Two Weeks -a distance of more Tests, and the resources we get," He Said .

"But we did the best we could and. the NHS professional-disciplinary teams as well as they could as well. "

A spokeswoman for PHE, said: "PHE South West, Torbay Council and Torbay and South Devon NHS Foundation Trust worked in partnership to support the care home, according to the state guidance on the Management of an outbreak.

"the Further examination of the residents, asymptomatic, symptomatic or otherwise, was not part of the government guidelines at The Time .

"However, in order to provided additional support to the home, the examination of all the residents and also the staff was immediately carried out by The Local hospital laboratory, in addition to a full support package, through The Local hospital. "

Optima care partnership has not published official figures for The Number of employees and the affected residents, or The Number of deaths. It said it could not say when or how The Virus got into their houses.
