The elections in 2019: How far the parties to the climate, the promises go?

Apr 22,2022 3:40 pm

It was by far the greenest campaign in the UK elections in history, with parties pledging tougher measures on The Environment and Climate Change .

But in a year and on The State of The Planet , as far as the parties go, really?

Now, after 30 years of this Problem reported, I think That some of the big parties have to conform to guidelines, up to the scale of The Challenge .

But what to do, long-term environmental Pressure Groups say? Friends of the Earth, says the Green Party , liberal Democrats and Labour have manifestos That would seriously fight Climate Change . The Conservatives, it means to have some strong measures, But do not put The Environment at The Heart of its Manifesto, and to damage some of your policy.

Cutting emissions, There is a consensus That the UK must virtually eliminate greenhouse gas emissions in the coming Decades , But the period varies greatly. The Green Party , the radical division, pledge to ban the gases produced by combustion of fossil fuels and contribute to Global Warming by 2030. This would mean, replace petrol-and diesel-powered vehicles, the insulated for electric, each house effectively and in a gas boiler taken out of circulation. Industries such as steel and chemicals would have to capture the harmful Carbon dioxide emissions.

The Greens say That this must happen to protect the climate - But there is a serious question.

- Perhaps the biggest environmental surprise is Labour's passionate warning "we are on the verge of irreversible change". The Party was flirting with a 2030 target, as The Green , But after the intervention of the trade unions has decided to take the path to "net zero" by 2030. The Lib Dems, meanwhile, say 2030 is impossible. Like the SNP, they say, you stop would-emissions by 2045 - would be quite a feat.

to be The Conservative promise of big commitments - But their sound and ambition are more silent in many areas. Stick to the 2050 target is known, in June. That was - and still is-one of the world's leading target of delivering the very difficult.

But in the middle of the current debate, by 2050, somehow, a little tame.

For politicians of all parties, although The Most immediate challenge will be to create detailed plans That show how the economy can be transformed.

the payment for a green transformationThe party, The Greens , says the protection of The Environment must government at the centre of all policy. You would have £100bn to lend a year for this transformation, with the mass home insulation and new industries, which include the creation of clean jobs than dirty industries.

A few years ago, this amount would be ridiculed were common.

There are questions, such as whether the UK developed the "green" industries enough to spend That money - But makes sense.

labour market also sees huge government spending, promises to upgrade almost all of the UK's 27 million households.

The Lib Dems, meanwhile, promise an emergency 10-year program to reduce Energy consumption in all buildings. But they are massive borrowing is not necessary, the Transformation of the industry, as the government can draw incentives for private investment.

Plaid Cymru and the SNP are also promising to green jobs revolution. And Plaid-a plan to lend £5 billion to support clean industries such as wind and tidal Energy .

What's with the Conservatives? Well, you have pleased activists by fracking is very unlikely perspective in the UK. In practice, the extract with a cracked rock gas, has. It also proposes improved Energy efficiency for homes - if also less than The Other parties. And you want a great investment in offshore wind. But there is still no support for solar-or for the cheapest form of Energy - onshore-wind,

diamonds, and The Green to aim at coping with the consumer to say she drives so much destruction of The Environment .

more and more people from your carsAll parties say they want to improve Public Transport - But there is a clear separation of road building.

The Conservatives pledge a £28. 8bn investment in local and strategic roads. This would be popular with motorists, But to make the emissions more difficult.

labour is promising to invest in local roads, But it also expresses a desire to try, people out of their cars.

The Lib Dems and The Greens go even further. The Lib Dems say they want to reduce The Number of cars on the roads and plan for 10% of Transport -Hiking budget, and Cycling . The Greens want to cut car numbers in total. The goal of both parties is the sale of petrol and diesel cars up to 2030. Labour say they will strive for the date, while the Tories would examine your current target 2040 (which is Too Late , if you want zero-emissions overall in 2050). The SNP wants to follow the whole of the UK, whose aim is the transition to electric vehicles 2032.

as well as adding electric cars to the local air pollution and global pollution of the waters, because the particles, abrasion of tires and brakes.

the landscape is green neither Lib dem nor Labour nor Conservative manifestos recognize involved in the emissions, to eat meat. Only The Green takes up this controversial issue, proposing a tax on meat and milk products, in order to limit the emissions from animal husbandry.

The Tories, who have developed, commonly referred to landscape-policies, promise to redirect farm subsidies to farmers, the improvement of The Environment . This can be supported by the promotion of the animal world, or recording of high-water on the fields and would by a £640m "Nature climate Fund" to support The Natural systems to soak up emissions.

tree-planting, How many trees, the parties pledge to plant?

work: 100m per year (2 billion up to 2040 )

Green: 70m per year

Lib Dems: 60m per year

SNP: 60m targeta year

Conservatives: 30ma year

source: party manifestos (except for work, in a post-Manifesto commitment), The Lib Dems would be the legally binding targets for the improvement of water, air, soil and biodiversity, the support of at least £18bn over five years, with grants moved to smaller farmers. Labour plans are less detailed, But they also promise to improve the landscape.

The Greens have a comprehensive plan, including an "ecocide" law for the prevention of crimes against the Natural Environment . Many pesticides would be forbidden to blame for the loss of insects.

measures for filling of CO2-emissions by the plants are now generally accepted. The Brexit-Party-plans to plant millions of trees, and lead a global initiative by the UN.

Others are more specific. The Lib Dems promise to plant 60 million trees per year-double That of the Conservative pledge of over 30 million. The SNP would also press for a 60 million annual target. Work, meanwhile, in a post-Manifesto announcement That it would commit to planting two billion new trees by the year 2040 - in the amount of 100 million euros per year. This is even More Than The Greens 70 million euros per year.

Plaid Cymru , would, in the meantime, in the end, what calls it, the collapse of biodiversity, pollution of waters and the seas, and erosion of The Soil .

the use of the English wasteThe parties have started the hostile public mood against single-use plastic articles. The Brexit Party would insist on the UK recycling its waste, so That it can be illegally exported for you, be burned, buried or dumped at sea. The Lib-Dems and labour would clamp down on single-use plastic articles.

And the Conservatives, a ban on waste exports to all Nations, to be recycled, except for the one with the best facilities.

HousebuildingAll main parties are promising to tackle the housing Crisis - an issue That 's been problematic for years. And there is a demand for houses insulated to the highest of standards.

The Conservatives are to build the attachment to, the one million houses in the next Parliament. The labour market in order to buy new forces in the country for low-cost housing and build 150,000 social homes in a year. The liberal Democrats and the Green Party promise of 100,000 homes for social rent in the year and both want new homes to be zero Carbon .

with This "ultra low Energy " housing development in Norwich has won a major architecture prize in this year's flying aviation is a future field of battle, But some of the parties to the policy are ambiguous, to say the least. The Conservative, let's say, for example, it will expand no more public money for a third runway at Heathrow Airport , But not to mention the wider airport. Working under the pressure of the trade unions - have left the door open to more airports, though, they've set a high bar for the Heathrow expansion.

Labour wants to re-nationalise-That is, the railway. But all parties are promising major investments in rail, especially in the North of England, where there is a lack of investment. Policies differ in terms of the controversial HS2 project, with labour promising to build it up to Scotland, the Lib-Dems the support of existing proposals and the Conservative review of The Project . The Greens would scrap.
