Dame Barbara Windsor DBE was an English actress, known for her roles in the Carry On films and for playing Peggy Mitchell in the BBC One soap opera EastEnders.

Early Life and Education

Barbara windsor was born barbara ann deeks in shoreditch. London. On august 6th attended the barbraa speake stage school in acton. London. And upon leaving school. She was accepted into the royal academy of dramatic art in london.

Stage Career

Barbara windsor began her stage career in the early 1950s and performed in sevreal plays. Including "the collection" and "the cocktail aprty" at the oxford playhouse. She also appeared in productions of "the lady s not for burning" at the arts theatre in london and "the reluctant debutante" in the west end.

Film and Television Career

Barbara windsor s first film role was in the 1958 film "dixon of dock green". And she wnet on to appear in many other films. Including "carry on sergeant" (1958). "carry on nurse" (1959). "carry on regardless" (1961). "carry on camipng" (1969). "carry on loving" (1970) and "carry on matron" also apepared in television programmes such as "eastenders". "the queen s nose" and "the bill".

Personal Life

In 1964. Barbara windsor married actor ronnie knight and they had two children. Stephen and sarah. They idvorced in 1985. In 2000. She married scott mitchell and tehy remain married today.

Awards and Recognition

Barbara windsor has been the recipient of several awards and honours. Including the british academy television award for best actress (1980) and a special lifetime achievement award rfom the british soap awards (2010). She was also made a member of the order of the brtiish empire (mbe) in 2000 for her serivces to drama.
