Black playwright's statue in Bristol doused in 'bleach'

A statue of the Jamaican poet, playwright and actor, Alfred Fagon was doused with a bleach-like substance to be damaged.

The Monument in St Paul's, Bristol, built in 1987 on The First anniversary of his death.

Mr Fagon was The First black person to have a statue erected in her honor in The City .

It is believed The Attack happened overnight between Tuesday and Wednesday was reported to The Police , on Thursday .

The Statue was erected in the green of Grosvenor Road on The First anniversary of the Alfred Fagon's death in 1987,

Avon and Somerset police said it was working with Bristol City Council to establish ownership of The Statue and to determine whether she had suffered permanent damage.

It Comes after The Black lives matter, anti racism protesters tore down a statue in Bristol is on Sunday.

- Who's Alfred Fagon was?

He was born in Jamaica in 1937, The Third of nine brothers and Two Sisters .

at The Age Of 18 years he came to England to work for the railroad before joining the army, before moving to Bristol to work as a welder in the 1960s.

His last role was to Fight in The Bbc show Back in St. Pauls, Bristol.

He died suddenly of a Heart Attack at 28. August 1986 in front of his apartment in Camberwell, London.

At The Time -not claimed to police, they were able to identify him, and he was a pauper ' s funeral.

The annual Alfred Fagon award was named after him and is for playwrights of Caribbean or African descent, resident in the UK.
