Coronavirus: blood clot-targeted treatment trial

Oct 10,2022 1:40 pm

scientists are testing whether an experimental drug Can prevent potentially fatal Blood clots in connection with Covid-19.

The study, funded caused by The British Heart Foundation, test the theory of the formation of Blood clots, a hormone imbalance, caused by coronavirus infection.

It is one of several drugs currently being tested, to the disease prevent the worst effects.

A third of the stationary Corona Virus patients.

The drug, TRV027, works to re-balance hormones involved in Blood pressure, salt and water.

researchers from the Imperial College in London, the study involved, thinking that, if The Virus enters The Body , it uses an enzyme as a "handle" to the cells.

But this disables the enzyme that plays an important role in balancing the important hormones. If we clots out of balance, The Blood Can become sticky, leading to Blood .

you mental high-altitude flights, the TRV027 - which won its Creator a Nobel Prize in 2012 , Can play in step to this balancing role.

Many of the applications tested, to treat, Covid-19 focus on the inflammation reaction of The Body .

But the hormonal imbalance is a "very significant problem" that Can give clues to the question of why Some People are sick, why others do not, says Dr. David Owen , one of the study's results.

The Blood clotting could also explain why Covid-19 seems to be relate primarily to people who already have cardiovascular disease, though a disease of the respiratory tract, according to The British Heart Foundation.

Various drugs tested

Since Covid-19 is such a complex disease that impacts many of The Body 's own systems, this treatment could be in combination with other medications, says Dr. Kat Pollock, a joint lead on the study

What I need to know about the coronavirus?

to be given Over 60 patients, with either the new experimental drug, or placebo, starting in the next month.

It has been shown to be safe in patients with acute Heart Failure , but it was not effective as a treatment for this condition.

TRV027 is only to facilitate one of several different drugs tested, the disease, the help the worst effects or The Body to fight them off.

at least 10 different anti-viral drugs, including HIV treatment with lopinavir/ritonavir, or tested to see if they Can help ward off the disease.

None has yet been shown to be effective on its own, although there's still a chance more could diseases be used to reduce, patients.

Remdesivir, a drug that has shown promising effects, works against an enzyme The Virus needs to replicate itself within The Body cells.

Meanwhile, plasma is the liquid part of The Blood of people who have recovered from coronavirus Can also help by sick people who still did not return the correct antibodies to fight off.

And A Number of other treatments are focusing on The Body 's harmful inflammatory response to fight Covid-19, known as cytokine release syndrome.
