At age 17, Ohio orphan Frankie (Frank Coghlan Jr. ), exasperated by school, decides to run away. He leaves his brother, Dickie (Dickie Moore), and sister, Mary (Ann Doran), and ends up in New York City alone. There, he meets a group of delinquents who abuse him, pressuring him to get food for them through illegal means.
