In a dystopian society where intellectuals are executed by the repressive, pseudo-fascist government, Jack (Mike Nichols) has relinquished his culture and curiosity, while his wife, Judy (Miranda Richardson), and especially her surly father, Howard (David De Keyser), are far more reluctant.
