The Botanic Gardens' paved trails are popular with families, and its outdoor Symphony Stage attracts picnicking concert-goers. Chic cocktail bars and trendy restaurants occupy the former British army barracks on Dempsey Hill, while hip art galleries and upscale shops line the northern end of Tanglin Road.
