Matt Dow is a wanderer accused of a crime he didn't commit. A shoot-out takes place in which his young companion's leg is smashed. When the townspeople realise they have made a terrible mistake, they appoint Dow their sheriff, and he in turn appoints his young friend Davey his deputy.
