In London, orphan Geoff Bramer (Freddie Bartholomew) helps thieves Doris (Gale Sondergaard) and Jim (George Zucco) with a racket stealing from jewelry stores. Once apprehended, Geoff is sent to a mariner's academy run by kindly headmaster Capt. Briggs (Charles Coburn) that houses orphaned boys.
